Technically he's always injured right?

He'll still get some top 5s and maybe a podium in a moto I reckon.

It could be a good year for him if he is healthy. Probably more of what we saw last year, but on a consistent basis.

In reference to the broken 'wing' from his cervical vertebrae, I've been wondering how that would heal / re-attach without surgery?

In the X Rays put up of the injury, the broken 'wing' was a few mms from it's original attachment point on the vertebrae, and, I don't know how it would migrate back / grow back by itself., not being a spinal / brain surgeon, myself.

So, if any said surgeons here among us can tell me, I'm all ears. Or has he a 'floating' piece of bone, right next to his spine?

Just curious. The bloke is stuck with enough permanent damage to his body, as it is.

From the French press motoverte.com, "he has not been able to prepare himself like he wished these last weeks because of his injury in SX". To me it looks like he is ok now (?), but will come from the couch. Not great especially because fitness has never been his strongest point since his paralysis. I still hope he does well, even with this really deep field, and that he doesnt lose too many points in the first 3 rounds, last year he was getting better and better at each race.

BTW, that was the official post-Hangtown release...

Just coming back from injury, Pourcel managed his recovery by keeping it steady aboard his Husqvarna FC 450. He never gave up, and has the ultimate goal of earning top-five overall in rider point standings this year. He finished 17-15 for 14th overall.

“I’m just coming back from injury with my ribs and neck,” said Pourcel. “My speed was a little out of the top 15, but I’m still pretty sore and trying to get back into it. I was riding pretty tight in the first moto and trying to compensate with my shoulders because I don’t want to hurt my neck. I just need to get a little more comfortable. I had two bad starts so that didn’t help. The track was tough to pass on, but I kept pushing. I’m going to try and get top-five overall this year and won’t give up.”

IMO, (it stinks, I know) :-)

How many of us could/would come back from a paralyzing injury to race again?

One that has left us with no way to regulate our core body temperature?

The kid is a badass in my book to even throw a leg over the bike.

Sometimes we lose perspective of the reality.

He is doing damn good...
