I though the 2012 KX250F used the same chassis and plastics as the previous years, while the 450 got a new frame and therefore plastics upgrade?

So the new 450 plastics fit the 250F? Cool

The new 450 shrouds don't have any of the small ovoid holes.

You guys must have missed this:

Corona, Calif. – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki apologized to its fans following Round 1 of the AMA Supercross 2012. In a release of January 9, 2012 Pro Circuit noted that during these troubling financial times the Motosports industry has been especially hard hit. A knowledgeable but unidentified spokesman observed, “Given the current economic conditions and scheduling between motos and practice session there was simply inadequate to change anything other than the numbers and the little 250/450 stickers on the bike shared by Broc Tickle and Tyla Rattray. We sincerely apologize for any confusion this may have caused the fans.” In related developments, it is noted that many of the teams are seeking longer breaks between motos and practice sessions. This move is spearheaded by Pro Circuit and Joe Gibbs Racing. Joe Gibbs Racing experienced similar confusion at the Anaheim event when the compressed time schedule failed to allow for proper labeling of last year’s tires used by James Stewart with the Pirelli logo. (Newsweird – for immediate release)

No, check the side panels how they on the PC bike line up with the rear fender like on the new crfs, also look at the bottom of the panel how it's now irregular in shape. Sure it's just plastics but for a bike fetish person big detail! Wink

What? Doesn't really explain it does it? They used the same bike? I honestly didn't understand what they just said there? They just changed stickers but they ride diff classes?

They are different. Look at the seams between the airbox/side panel plastics. On the stocker the seam separates the airbox and the vent hole. On the PC bike that is all one piece, the seam runs under and behind the vent hole.

On the picture of the #28 bike, the shrouds are 250F shrouds with extra holes in the lower portion. The side numbers look to be from the 2012 450F, since on the 2012 250F, the graphic has to be made in three pieces, vs to two pieces of the 2012 450F. On the #28 bike in the picture, you can see that the airbox is in one piece from the triangular section in front through the part with the triangular air intake, but doesn't go all the way back to the rear fender like the 250F airbox does.

Side panels are side panels. Not radiator shrouds. (To whoever made that comment.)

Looks like it's a 450 seat-(heard that), airbox, side panels and I'd guess the sub frame.

Anyone know when the actual 2013 is released? Need to get that bike! Lol!

It's pretty clear that you will also need at least an air box as well.

question is.....is it legal, according to the production rule, to use a sub-frame and air box other then the one produced on the respective bike..????
i remember reading that it was this same rule that doesn't allow the carbon fiber subframes and airboxes combos that we see in most mxgp bikes......

i can only assume...but by looking at the two i would say the subframe mounts would have to be modified aswell as the pipe mount to attach a 250f can to a 450f subframe.

i would like to see some closer pics because the airboot on the 2012 kx250f has an extra injector on it and i wonder what they are doing with this. my only assumption is that they are having moto-tassinari modify the 450 boot to attach this extra injector.

other than that it looks like a simple mod of detaching a 450 rear end and bolting to a 250f with a couple of mounting adjustments. which should be legal by ama standards i would assume because it is still a production part, and not a works style unit like the carbon ones used in the GPs

Or they got a certain pre production part that is meant for a certain bike that fits without modification... Cough...
