Ironman Tornado?

Don't know any specifics, but I got a text from a buddy saying Detroit weather radio reported a tornado hitting Crawfordsville, Indiana today. National Weather Service has a tornado reported in Crawfordsville on their website. Hopefully it missed the track and had minimal damage elsewhere. That would be a hell of an end to the season.

Based on the kawasaki track map it looks like it hit and blew away the big jump over near the back of the track. Dont they call it Godzilla? I hope the track map is wrong. That would suck. Seriously not heard any weather related stuff.

The problem with modern weather reporting is that they use their radar and imaging tools way too much. So radar will indicate a tornado when it picks up signatures that typically go along with one, trigger a tornado warning and all of the reporters and broadcasters will go along with it... even if there actually wasn't one. I wouldn't think too much of it unless people from the track start saying otherwise.

The NWS report says the tornado was spotted by law enforcement and was also reported by the general public.

Yes, Crawfordsville definitely had one but not heard if near the track or not. Lots of touch downs all the way dang near to Toledo...word was a funnel was spotted couple miles from my place and now more boomers are headed in.

Well then disregard what I said if people actually saw it. I travel a lot in Oklahoma and Texas and have seen my fair share of tornados but I've also been in a lot of false tornado warnings as well over the years which was the basis of my comment.

I'm about 40 minutes past the Indiana/Ohio state line. Right between Ft. Wayne & Indianapolis and the wind is picking up, raining, and starting to ligtning as we speak, or type? Heard of some nasty storms from around the area. Hope all is well

I live in North Indy. Track is probably fine. I just hope the 25 foot bronze statue of Stankdog doing a massive airwheelie fender grab over Eric Gillen who sits beneath in his wheelchair pointing upward at Stankdog is done in time for the race.

If you've ever seen the Free Willy movie cover, it's eerily similar, except the kid is Gillen. In a chair.

Kokomo is an hour-and-a-half from Crawfordsville.

Just an FYI for those who use Google Maps... If you plug in Ironman Raceway, it'll take you to a spot a few miles east of the Raceway...which also happens to be where there's some tornado damage.

I live in Lafayette 30 minutes from the track and Bad thunderstorms and Tornados did pass through the area. But the Iron man track was undamaged and is in great shape. Most of the damage was north central to northeast Indiana. Kokomo took a direct hit from a Tornado has heavy damage.

Not dry today. Depending on which forecast you look at , it looks like pretty good chance of a mudder for Saturday.

The chances of getting hit by a tornado is like finding a needle in a haystack.

We just happened to find the needle.

The first practices are always an absolute mess, by the time the motos came around the track was great. Hopefully it doesn't get out of hand tomorrow, Iron Man is a fun race to watch.

I didn't think Billings Montana was in "Tornado Alley"

At least 2 of your bikes are ok. Third one not so much.
Hopefully you and your family are all safe.

Sorry man been there. It's terrible. Hope the people are ok that's all that really matters when something like that comes through. I think I saw today no major injuries in that area which is great.
