The infamous story of a bunch of young stars and a bad accident with a Train.

But what Most don't know is Kyle was an Awesome BMX racer and the 1st ABA BMX National #1 . His parents graciously donated to the BMX hall of Fame these excellent pieces of History. That will be seen at the Hall of Fame located in Chula Vista Ca. at the Olympic training Facility.

Kyle's personal DG replica frame donated the the BMX Hall of Fame by his parents Carl and Paula Fleming. October 2010.

Oakley R&D Team poster with Kyle Fleming and many other BMX Hall of fame members in the photo as well. Donated to BMX Hall of Fame by his parents Carl and Paula Fleming. October 2010.

Kyle's custom designed Factory DG shirt! This was made specifically for the Oakley Poster photo shoot. A very, very cool piece of BMX history! Donated to BMX Hall of Fame by his parents Carl and Paula Fleming. October 2010.

This is Kyle's actual ABA National #1 trophy. This "THE" first ever ABA National #1 title awarded. There is only one "First" for this award and this it! Donated to BMX Hall of Fame by his parents Carl and Paula Fleming. October 2010.

Thanks for posting that Jay.

Here is a nine page thread from the Old School section about the accident involving Kyle, Bruce Bunch and Rick Hemme. That was a very sad day in MX history. I believe the record books would look a lot different if that accident never happened.

500guy, way cool story, thanks for sharing and keeping the memory alive. I didn't know Kyle was such a hot shot at BMX too. To this day I still remember getting the awful news of the accident. I was racing mini's at Canyon Raceway when the announcer let us all know what happened. Kyle was one of AZ's finest for sure.

There is a little blurb about Kyle on the ABA HOF webpage HERE

KYLE FLEMING
"ABA’s very first No.1 Amateur--back in 1978. Kyle helped put Arizona BMX on the map, and gave DG bikes a winning reputation in the late-70’s. Made the move from BMX to motocross, but tragically died in a car/train accident in 1982."

Kyle was a cool dude from a great family, actually become friends with his sister before meeting Kyle way back in the early 80's. Had some really good times back in the day.
