Hey, I just found this. Is this happening again. I remember last year, the MX guys came out in force and surprised the political peeps. Looks as if Rep. Mary Flowers (D-Chicago) is trying to do the 'ban the under age 16 thing again'.
From what I gather, the meeting was supposed to be yesterday, but has been post-poned until March 10th at 8:00 am. Has anyone heard about this?
Details were found from the following 2 places....

Illinois House bill 5029, introduced by Rep. Mary Flowers (D-Chicago), would make it illegal for anyone under the age of 16 to operate an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) or off-highway motorcycle (OHM). The proposed legislation would also make it illegal to transport a passenger on an ATV or OHM regardless of whether the vehicle is configured for a passenger. The bill would also require ATV and OHM riders to have valid driver's licenses and wear helmets.
This legislation is nearly identical to legislation introduced by Rep. Flowers last year that ultimately died in the House Elementary and Secondary Education Committee.
The text of HB 5029 and a prewritten response are available on the "Rights" page of http://www.americanmotorcyclist.com.
This legislation was referred to the rules committee on January 25th. Additional updates will be posted as they become available.

The Shop
i say we get the downstate reps to ban basketball, baseball and football for anyone under 16 as well, only in Cook County, that will rattle some cages in Chicago for sure
The Flowers bill got tabled after we sat there for about an hour. It will be looked at in a sub committee next week. They figure that out after about 50 of us put in those statement cards at the meeting.
"From what it sounds like. the state of IL is in the education dept alone 950 million in arrears. And any bill with new costs will not likley get out of committee.
They had the superintendent of schools sitting there after the congress leader lady was in there. From the one question that was asked. they have ZERO dollars set aside for school books next year. not to mention there are many schools who are dropping pre K classes do to lack of state payment.
highely doubt any money or desire for ATV laws or bans"
