I don't listen to silly season rumors, but IF Dungey signs with KTM, would he go 350 or 450?

450 no doubt about it. Supercross and Motocross.

The supposed advantage of the 350 is that it won't tire the rider out and be more maneuverable, but Dungey doesn't tire and he can ride a 450 darn near its limits.

Funny, didnt Dungey say that he got tired at Hangtown, and Budds Creek following Reed?

Not sure where it leaves Team Suzuki, but James will be riding a yellow bike. Listen to the PulpMX archive from last night.

Yellow bikes crash just as much as any other. I know, I rode yellow for four years.

Dungey has said he wants to stay with Suzuki, but I guess he could have been just saying that or has changed his mind. Stewart might ride Suzuki next year but it won't be under the Suzuki tent. If Dungey does choose KTM I hope he rides the 450. I think Short would agree with that decision without question.

you all forgot the most important part...

IF Dungey Signs With KTM you can kiss his prowess goodbye for a while...ktm's don't appear to be ready to be up front...

I think riders coming up from 250s will be best suited for the 350. Once on a 450, I think it's probably a bit harder transition. If Dungey chose the 350, I think it would be indoors only & go with the 450 outdoors. I would really like to see Barcia on the 350.

They already have an EFI engine. Nagl rode one last year.

I will say that if KTM wants to win...Dungey is the only guy who is gonna ride one and honestly, he has the ability to win on it if it is developed right...Roger knows what he is doing with machines...maybe it will work? shit I almost talked myself into believing...ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

KTM is the only company that could pull this off. Worse thing that could happen is the KTM450 gets EFI and works refinement for the production model available to the public. That is all that matters to me. Rather not pay the riders salary via increased bike cost but it's a necessary evil.

I wouldn't compare GP and AMA bikes. As far as I know, the GP bikes aren't subject to the production rule.
Not a real comparison since he was coming back from an injury and it was just a training opportunity for him, but Marvin Musquin didn't have that great of a US GP. And he used to dominate the previous 2 years.

word.

unless they lower the weight limits for the 350 i cant see it ever getting its intended advantage at the pro level.

I think Dungey could race and win on either. Nagl has done well on both, and Alessi is doing similar on both.

Will Dungey go to KTM though or will he race Honda's with Reed?

Both are really good options.

Roczen said his AMA bike was faster.

Roczen and Herlings went 1-2 on the same bike Musquin rode at the GP.

Marvin was just back from injury... he wasn't going to be on the pace of Roczen or Herlings that day who have improved from 2010.

All the modern 450s are the same. It's only the stigma that comes with KTM, since they have not won in America. Realistically, there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of the current 450s. It just has to do with rider confidence.

Roczen said his AMA bike was faster.

The bike is just louder so it feels faster.

Between Decoster and Ian Harrison and with the new EFI 450 that is being tested I think if Dungey rode KTMs he would do fine.

The one thing no-one has mentioned is that the 2012 KTM 450 is still carburated. This could be a serious issue in supercross whereas the 350 is injected. They have a fuel injected engine for the 450 EX-C, and presumably they could use the homogolation (sp?) from that bike but they would have to use the engine cases from the EX-C in order to have fuel injection for Dungey.

If he demands fuel injection on the 450 SX engine, they better get on it quick with the homogolation of a brand new engine.

This was talked about in Observations. KTM is rumored to be working on a 2012 1/2 production 450 with EFI. Obviously geared toward showing Dungey they are willing to let him race what he wants.

There is a EFI 450 thats either here now, or will be here soon for testing. I know that the US team is getting it faster then they thought they would.

Yeah and my point is, if they want to be able to race it, they better start selling it in the next couple months. It'll need a completely different cylinder and possibly new crank cases. I'm sure if they want to get Dungey and if this is part of the deal they will get it done.
