….about their ambassadors RV and MC and all the social media about them riding two strokes. They both have been posting about their excitement on ripping around on them. Now don't get me wrong, I'm still down with two strokes of fury and that those boys are digging them as well, but it's hard not to ignore the obvious….Kawasaki doesn't make them in big sizes any more. Sign of things to come?
LOL Sorry, couldn't help myself.
The Shop
Motorcycles, ATV's, Jet-Ski's are just a drop in the bucket for Kawasaki.
Only a couple scraggly ol bikes said yes.
funny that you leave out specific words to satisfy your agenda...
or not
Yamaha YZ250 Less than 1,400
KTM SX250 Less than 900
Less than 2,300 combined.
Versus...450s...
Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, KTM (No Husky data avail, yet)
More than 12,100.
That's 5.3:1 in favor of 450s...
So...where's the reasoning...again...?
Pit Row
i'm flying full staff just thinking about it
I have no agenda, just an observation and a thought.
I agree with you that they are doing a great job of bringing attention to the brand, but in this particular case, bringing attention to a product they do not have available.
On the flip side, people who talk about two strokes being so much cheaper to buy get too caught up in the used bike market and forget how expensive they still are or would be to buy brand new.
Once I switched to a 250f in 2004 I never looked back or thought about riding a two stroke again. That was until the beginning of summer this year when I bought a 2003 KX250 and I absolutely love the thing. I had never owned a 250 two stroke before (was on 125s when the world decisively went thumper) and didn't realize how awesome the motor was! I really don't care about lap times anymore, I don't care about jumping things nobody else does or any of that stuff like I did when I was younger and taking it more serious. Now I just like to have fun, that's it, and a 250 two stroke is a lot of fun on a motocross track. I now rarely ever even ride my four stroke.
450's should sell better than 250 2 strokes. I'm honestly surprised it's only a 5.3:1 ratio when all things are taken into consideration. It is naturally a 5:2 ratio simply based on availability(since Husky #'s aren't available). 450's are better race bikes for pure mx. They are also better at things like desert racing and high speed GNCC style riding if for no other reasoning than fuel economy, traction and stability. I don't think anybody argues that and if they do I don't agree with them. 2 strokes are just exciting and fun race/play bikes that inspire passion and are really simple to work on. It seems to really get under your skin for some reason and I just don't get why?
I also would be interested in if you have the data regarding 250 & 300 xc and xcf bikes? I guess if you had that you might also have info on the 450 offroad bikes as well. It would be interesting to see and I've always wondered why the industry keeps all these numbers under wrap so tightly.
I love 'em too, my personal bike is a 144, but they aren't competitive anymore. Until there's a rule change or a breakthrough in technology, no top guy trying to win a championship isn't going to set him up with a giant disadvantage.
People keep referring to the TWMX Premix teasers and start spouting TWOSTROKES ARE MAKING A CONEBACK GUYZ!!!!
I am aldo betting that a 20 yr old four stroke doesn't exist...and won't...
