I haven't seen mention of him in the top 5 anywhere in SX.....do people forget that quickly how good he is at SX? Pretty sure he got quite a few seconds and thirds in years past.....Turbo

Well this year you have in this order:
1 Stewart
2 Reed
3 Villipoto
4 Dungey
5 Canard
6 Regal

That is your top 6 right there so Short could be around 7th or 8th....I just think Andrew will come up just "short" of the top 5......but what do I know.......

I really like Shorty and would like to see him get a couple of wins this year. My problem is that I dont have faith in the 350. I'm not saying that a 450 is going to be faster on a SX track but I think there will be certain places where the 350 will be a dis advantage.
I could be wrong and I hope I am. We will see soon enough.

I don't see how a guy who has struggled for years to get his first win can give up 100cc's and team honda then go to a lesser experienced team and get his first win? I like Shorty but this is a legitimate concern for his fans.

The thing is out if the top 6 you mention maybe half the guys will still be healthy come Vegas. This is how it is every year not wishing bad luck on anyone. If Shorty stays healthy all season he'll end up in the top 5 for sure.

Short is fast enough to win and can make top five for sure. He just gets in his own head and throws the win away. The new KTMs are great bike, and the team is one of the best this year IMO.

Lesser experienced team? Can you name one person with more experience with winning than "The Man"? I could be wrong but I think we are gouing to see a different Shorty this year, maybe not walking away but a definate threat.

Ok, let me change my verbage. A lesser experienced manufacturer. Even "The Man" had to work for years at Suzuki to get them on board with his ideas. This is a first year team for "The Man" and they have nowhere near the winning average of Honda over the past 40 years.

Roger is a great team manager. One of the best this sport has ever seen, but what some of you are going to find out is, it's more about the ability of the rider than it is the manager.

"The Man" as some of you like to call him, isn't going to live up to his expectations in the 450 class this year.

I dig Shorty as well but I just don't see him in the top 5 anymore with the gate being so stacked and the younger talent moving up.

Regal can't beat Short in SX. Infact the kid will not even get a sniff of the top 10 till there are some injuries.

Yes Captian Obvious, it ultimately falls on the rider but alot of you dont realize is how much of a difference a manager makes to a rider. I am not saying that Shorty is going to set the series on fire, I think he is there to for his experience, to help dial in the 350, build the team, and because of his consistency.

I believe I know a thing or two about managers, and how they contribute to a team. Short is a very good rider with some very good credentials, so with some of the "so called" logic here, it should be a winning combination, but it won't be.

Roger is just not as magical as some think.

Shorty has 8 less ponies up to 8,000rpm, EIGHT!!! there will be big rythm sections he won't be able to jump, good starts will be out of the question...He is bringing a knife to a gunfight folks. I like Shorty but he is going to get beat liike a rented mule.

Yes I did put Dungey 4th! We all know Stewart can beat Dungey IF he stays healthy. Villopoto was faster than Dungey last year. Chad looks as good on the honda as he did on the Suzuki..Don't get me wrong Shorty is one of my favorite riders I just don't think he will be in the top 5......

"We all know Stewart can beat Dungey IF he stays healthy," I don't know about that. His return to motocross was after he was presumably healthy and we all know how his quest to be named to the MXdN team went. I'm not saying he can't win and doesn't have a legitimate shot at the title but he has proven to be inconsistent, except for his perfect season (not the first to do that), so to think he can win at will is just not realistic. He is a year older and I just haven't seen the focus that carried him to the undefeated outdoor season. I think there will be alot of surprises this year, and some bandwagon hopping as well.

I think Shorts results will all boil down to how good of starts he gets.
If he can get the starts, then he will be up there.
If he gets smoked off line on that 350 ,I think it will really hurt his results.
