Did a search and couldn't find this interview mentioned here previously. If this is a repost please forgive me, I believe I did my due diligence.
Travis Pastrana recently was interviewed by Jeff Gluck of USA TODAY in a segment called "12 Questions."
I thought this part was crazy interesting, wasn't familiar with this conflict at all!!

Q: Is there anyone you used to clash with in racing and then you ended up smoothing things over and reaching an understanding?
A: Ricky Carmichael. Absolutely hated him. Wouldn't talk to him. When we were on the Suzuki test track, he threw me out and said, "You can't ride when I ride." And he was better, so of course everyone was like, "Yep, OK, you can't ride when he rides." I was like, "Damn it!" So I went and rode with the Yamaha test track with Chad Reed – who was also a complete (jerk), but we were good friends.
mcgrath had 72
carmichael had 48
motocross wins:
mcgrath had 17
carmichael had 102
hmmmmmmmmmmm, let us do some quick math here
The Shop
Goat....means greatest of all time. With SX and MX together......who had the most wins and championships....ever?
FWIW.....they do call MC "The king".......and rightfully so. He was the best SX rider to ever throw a leg over a bike. All around SX and MX.......he's not even on the same planet as RC. Nobody is......and I don't think anyone ever will be again in our life time.
While he was no MC, he was no slouch either.
Also MC was a huge personality. He loved the press and the fans loved him. During the race he would pass his competitors, slow down to let them catch up and even let them pass him back and then run away again. In interviews he said he did this to demoralize them, play with their heads. What this also accomplished was it got him way more air time as the cameras stayed on him. RC just ran away and sometimes they hardly even showed him televised as it was just him riding around the track by himself.
TM
Yes he did - 2004. Though I have to say, imo I don't think Ricky would've gotten the better of Chad that year. As soon as CR was forced off the steel framed YZs he was rarely the same rider again until his short time at Suzuki in 09.
Interesting comment there from Travis. By no means an RC hater or anything but I can't say I'm desperately surprised.
Pichon RC
I'f you're counting 250 Champion's Stanton Emig ,Henry, Albertyn, Larocco, Mxkeid, and RC hadn't been a champion yet on the 250's
Supercross Champion's Stanton Emig,

I really think that was RV's day to shine, and even if RC had been 100% it would have been a great battle.
