Looks like a cool bike. Just like KTM, they won't be shipping 125s here though.

I guess I was lucky to get the best of both worlds, mine came in 125 format but the 150 top end came included for free.

TBM magazine dyno'd the Husky, TM and KTM and the Husky made the most power. The KTM is the lightest weight of the 3 by a good margin.

Husqvarna has plans to bring an all-new 2011 CR150 two-stroke into the USA later this year. The reed valve and power valve-equipped engine will be have a 144cc displacement (same as the KTM) thanks to a 58mm x 54.5mm bore and stroke, plus have a suggested retail price below $6000. The six-speed tranny will power a chromoly tube frame (elliptical tubing), Marzocchi 48mm forks and a Sachs shock. The brakes are by Brembo with a 260mm Braking front rotor and 240mm rear Braking rotor. The polished hubs are from Grimeca. The carb is a 38mm Mikuni TMX38. In light of the 1CR150, Husqvarna will not bring any CR125’s to the USA this year.

$5999?

Damn!

$5999 isn't bad compared to the competitors.

2011 KTM 150SX MSRP $6299
2011 Yamaha YZ125 MSRP $6250
2011 TM 144MX MSRP $7899

I was reading about that earlier. Like the KTM, it is a really good looking bike. Somewhat minimalist in appearance thanks to the chromoly frame, something that the big bulky aluminum frames take away from MX bikes. The price is where a motocross bike should be, the $8000.00 plus figures should only be attached to big overweight and decked out v twin cruisers and not 190-250 lb single cylinder stripped down dirt bikes.

Although I'm a 150 lover, it's still disappointing to see the 125's continue to disappear. I'm still of the opinion that those bikes and that class is needed here in the states. With the extinction of the 125's since the 250F's came onto the scene it seems like MX in general has taken a steady downturn, even before the recession hit.

So...

Do -WE- get one and put someone on it at Loretta's and see if we can make a "point"?

Well...

Here's your chance Thumpa-Hater!

I just picked up a cr125 for $3700 brand new. Killer little bike.
Top quality components and superb handling machine.

$350 for cylinder, head and PV mods (144cc)
$150 for a top end kit
$500 for suspension

$4650 for a sick, sick ass little ripper bike.

The local KTM shop wanted $7400 OTD for their 150SX. No thanks.

I have a little mad money stashed..... You got a rider in mind? I've been waiting to hear what DC's "announcement" entails. You haven't been privy to any of that have you??

Dunno about DC's upcoming statements: I do know that we can get someone like Emler in to a project like this, tho!

Are these things still 197# Wt. Limit?

I see 3# coming OUT of each suspended end of that bike RIGHT off the BAT!

I'm jus' thinkin'...

125 weight limit is 194lbs., does that apply in the ams. though?174 sounds better.....as long as there's no claiming!LOL

If there's claiming...we go a simpler route.

If not, we still go a sensible route...194 looks REALLY EASY on that thing.

It's power, chassis and...of-course...Rider!

I've had the luck to try one (2010 125 with the OEM 144 kit) back to back with my 05 YZ125 (bored to 134 and some head mods, no porting, PC pipe).

First the bike looks amazing, and it sounds FACTORY. The engine is very capable but it needs some space and long straights to get the most out of it. Out of corners my clapped out blue bike was much faster. The bike needs some suspension work to balance it. The front end doesn't track well in the corners. It has a lot of potential though. With some suspension mods and a little bit of port work to get some low end power, it could easily hang with a KTM or YZ with a 144 kit for about the same price.

Oh and forgot to mention, Husky are the only manufacturer to adjust their pricing to the exchange rate, so here in Canada they retail for about $1000 less than a YZ125 or 150SX.

Very good looking bike. Doesn't Husky offer a pretty impressive contingency program?
3/3/2011 9:33pm
the bikes are solid. for the past 3 years i've worked parts at a bmw husky shop in atlanta. i can promise i've sold more bmw boxer oil filters than husky parts. that being said, we have sold our fair share of huskys and no one ever needs parts.

as far as the contingency thing...i know a guy who has bought two bikes at half price through husky bucks. let alone the savings on parts he wore out from racing offroad.

huskys warranty is pretty good, too. almost every warranty claim has been paid including a motor that was out of warranty. parts pricing is crazy cheap. ktm makes their radiators yet husky retail is cheaper than dealer price on a ktm radiator.

It ran like crap out of the crate, after swapping to a Keihin carb and adjusting the powervalve linkage it's a rocket. I'm going to give the Mikuni carb another chance though. I haven't bothered to try the 144 top end because it runs so well and is so much fun to ride as a 125. I figure I'll likely save it for when I need it. I'll hopefully be able to ride in 2 weeks, it's been a long winter up here.

Good to see Husky making good equipment still, I remember Mickey Diamond racing at the Silverdome back when everyone was on the Jap 4 bikes.

Good stuff, thanks for the post!
