My buddy thought he could make the gap, he was way off. He walked away with minor injuries

He wasn't really even close. Good jump form and you could have absorbed that pretty easily. Glad he's alright.

If seen fatal mx crashes even with top of the line neck protection. Plus they are uncomfortable to wear but that's just my .02

I wore my friends Leatt chest and neck brace last weekend for practice on Saturday race on Sunday. Normally I just wear the random chest protector and honestly, I couldn't even tell I had it on. The neck brace, didn't even know it was there. It really surprised me.

IMO, you're more likely to get hurt wearing a neck brace than not. I am an emergency physician and I have read all the data put forth by Leatt, et al. Not trying to get into a pissing match...just giving my opinion.

And there really wasnt a reason to crash in the vid above. He should have been able to ride out of that one. Glad he is ok though.

I'm very interested in your opinion and would really like to hear your take on them. I understand the firestorm on here that comes with talking about them, so you can PM me if you want. Specifically, do you have varying thoughts on the varying brands? I wear the Atlas Air and my son wears the EVS youth R4.

A rep of a very reputable brand and a personal friend said I should not wear one. That was a little eye opening.

Please explain. How will you get hurt more and what injuries will you have?

No knee pads/braces...

That melodramatic "I broke my collar bone...and I'm in a lot of pain" seemed fake and forced.

otherwise, I'm glad he's okay. And I'd never attempt it...so good for him.

Was not faked but did seem a little over dramatic

That jump has way less pop than it used to, or the weather has taken its toll. In person it is 100% gnarly. The camera angle doesn't do it justice.

Thats not a step up by anyone I knows definition. More like a blind uphill double.

That jump bites anyone who doesnt know how to jump. There is also no lip or kick like 10 years ago. Last I was there the amount of drunk quad carnage was epic. Place is garbage except the day after a rain.

So true on the camera angle. Where he landed is a steep part up to the top. No way he could've easily rode that out. Been there plenty of times and he got off easy coming up that short.

I've seen car crashes where the dude was flung over a building and died. He probably thought the seatbelt didn't look cool.
