I'll be going to my first sx race next weekend (indy) and wanted to make sure I bring enough money. Theres only going to be 2 of us going, and with the hotel and tickets already paid for, I was thinking around $300 should be enough for food, maybe a couple shirts and other stuff.

How far off am I? lol

In any stadium, I plan on spending $25 or so for something resembling a meal.

Depends. You going to be there all day or just the night show? Drinking alcohol or no? I always put a couple hundred in one pocket, and another hundred or so in another pocket. That way when your first pocket runs dry, you still have a little left. I don't buy shirts and stuff, but I'm there all day, and the wife and I have a few drinks during practice. Don't forget money for parking unless you plan on taking a cab from your hotel(best option).

I like to stop and eat before hand at a restaurant where I fill up to almost miserably full status, 2 mini bottles of Jack Daniels in my pocket (single shot sized) for my $7 sodas, and a little baggy of peanuts or trail mix in my other pocket. Usually a margarita for my lady and not counting the tickets, I spend like $25ish total in the stadium. I don't really like the shirts and stuff but they're like $25. Monster can will get you in the pits, and margaritas are $16, and you can count on spending like $10-12 for beer. Food is like $5-19ish ranging from a pretzel to a burger, with a slice of pizza and nachos in between.

I'll be going all day probably, if I can convince my GF lol. I will probably have a couple beers, not getting drunk or anything.

I was expecting shirts to be $40-50, I think I paid about $40 for a shirt at Lorrettas last summer.

If you keep away from the Alcohol it's not too bad. Guy was right on for food. If you like snacking on stuff like I do I always fill my pockets and the wife's purse with edibles. My wife bakes pretty good edibles so she takes care of the snacking and buzz in one shot so no need for beers!

If your driving you will have to pay for parking of course, San Diego is up to $20 I believe, not sure what Indy charges.

Hmmm, maybe I'm wrong. I thought they were $25 but like I said I never buy them. I'd try to sneak in a little snack though because food is waaaaay over priced and the quality is crap. I don't like to get drunk either as I'm not a big drinker but I do enjoy a little drink so I sneak in a couple little mini liquor bottles.

My hotel is a little over a mile away, so I don't think we will be walking there. I think I'll be ok if I stay away from the alcohol then lol.

Don't waste your money. Eat lunch on the way there, exit the stadium and BBQ in the parking lot. Buy a 10 dollar shirt in the parking lot.

People that pay money to eat inside and buy shirts are crazy.

Parking that I know of is 20 for Anaheim, 20 for San Diego, and 30 for the front lot at Dallas. And free in Vegas

TOO MUCH!!

They tax you on everything. Limit booze, don't eat inside and refill your water bottle @ the drinking fountain. I like Indy & wish I was going this year. Angry

I'm old school.

Man should always have at least a $100 cash in his wallet when he goes out of town for the day. That being said, the only thing I ever spent money on at an SX race were a Soda pop and a race SPECIFIC T-Shirt. It had to say Seattle on it. I didnt want the generic one t-shirt fits all venues one.

Also, I never drink alcohol at an sx race. The entertainment is good enough, why do I need buzz? I like to take it all in and remember it.

So to answer your question ....$100

Usually, $5.00 per round, which includes coffee, making some homemade pizza, and perhaps the occasional Miller High Life.

You didn't read the OP very well did you?
He ALREADY has the hotel, tiks and Blow Wink

With 300 bucks you will have more than enough after paid expenses, Look into Pit passes.
Ask GuyB to take a pic of you & your date. He can put it up here so you can pass the initiation.

Definitely stop and grab lunch before you go in.. My buddy and I were a little late and decided to skip lunch and head on in.. After leaving the pits we were starving, the food sucked and the prices were ridiculous like any other stadium.
Snacks and a some water are a must! Next time I will be bringing a couple PB&J's and a larger water container if I can.

We spent $110 x 2 on tickets & took $200 cash for parking, food & a blanket... Yea, she wanted the blanket this year instead of shirts. Well, it has dirtbikes on it, so it isn't to bad. This was in ATL.

Bro, how do you even piss off the fans in your area if you're not buzzin. . . I like to smash a 24 pack of stones in the parking lot and still bring $200 in cold hard cash for beer in the stadium.

Same as most...stop and eat a big meal on way, had a flask of whiskey in coat, bought a couple smalls for the kids (drinks) then my buddy bought them shirts......spent less then a $20 at the race, it was nice to drop in a couple sweets and eat their food and drink their free beer, then dropped all the kids off at hotel for my daughter to watch then hit the One ind after party, then a strip club with the wifes and had a good night.
