Tell me the points don't need to be reset? Probably wouldn't matter much since Dungey would still win but at least it would go to the end.

Nope. I say a shorter SX season is what's needed.

I like how Arenacross is where only the top 10 get in to the chase. That would be perfect for SX since only the top 10 really have a chance of winning anyways.

It would give people like Reed, Milllsaps, and more a chance to really win the championship and make it much more exciting for everyone.

I think it's just a matter of time before they do it. I am guessing next year or year after. I honestly believe it will happen.

Then you can dig up my old post and say, "Damn he was right". ha

I've gone back and forth on how I feel about the chase format. I think I would be ok with it if getting a win meant you were automatically in it. I think a chase format might encourage guys to get back out there and get points (good for the fans, perhaps not in the best interest of the riders though). It has it's pros and cons for sure.

NOOOO. Don't want that. That means less racing for us fans to watch.

To me that's not a true championship . I realize everyone would be playing by the same rules but still , a championship is won by being the best over a long series...but hey it id SX and I guess the "show" is what's important. As long as they don't mess with the outdoors.

What happened that Reed, Millsaps and more didn't have a chance at the Championship? They were at the races and raced, weren't they? How did they not have the same change as Dungey?

I'd rather see 3 less rounds and much better racing.....I'm with Cygnus.

Give those guys a few extra weeks off between seasons and there would be more guys on the gate ultimately.....imho.

This. SX is too long, too much attrition.

Resetting them for your entertainment seems excessive.

Dungey earned it by being fast and consistent. I'd rather have a champion like that, than one who heats up after the points are reset.

Which is probably the opposite of how most of the manufacturers and teams would see it.

It's too long and monotonous and ruins careers and the outdoor season - but it's the cash cow so it drives the bus.

Perhaps they should use stunt doubles for the first six to eight rounds so we can have a chance to see a full gate of the A-list riders at the first national.

That, or just have Vinnie come up to everyone on the gate at A1 and break their left leg with a bat... so we could get the inevitable out of the way and start with an even playing field.

I'm more for shaking things up. Do things like double points races where you have two 10 lap mains, giving 25 points to the winner each time and other such things.

If everyone ran their earned number that would give 2nd on back something to fight over, a lower # next year, oh nevermind....

That would be cool at a track like Daytona but make it two 30 + 2 motos.

3 fewer rounds means Dungey wraps it up with 3 rounds to go (80pt lead after Indy).

Also, having a "chase" makes the first few rounds just as boring to watch as our remaining 3 rounds are now. There is no incentive to dominate/win early on if you are just in it for the "chase" points. In fact, that's exactly the mindset of the top Arenacross guys. They only look to score enough points to get into the "chase" and don't hang it out there to go for race wins.

The reason it is different in Nascar is that there are HUGE bonuses for winning a race, so everyone would like to win every time more than making sure they secure a place in the chase.

Reset the points or some other marketing scheme?

Why not race the entire series and then draw numbers from a hat to determine the champion?

Seems just as suspenseful.

SX too long of season, and from rider's perspective, give the riders opportunity to heal between events and prepare. The riders definitely feel it's too long and hard to prepare for every consecutive weekend. This season lost a lot to injuries, almost like we need to adapt second string riders that can fill in for the that rider thats out to still keep the team in the points.

What about throwing one race out ? Let's say you get a mechanical DNF or crashed out of a race .

How about we start handing out participant ribbons and finisher pins, too? Wink

Resetting them for your entertainment ... This is what everyone is missing right here. Could you imagine marathon runners resetting the field for the last 2 miles, so the people sitting at the finish line can see a more exciting finish..

13 race SX Series. 6 West, 6 East and the shootout

Or 13 races with full Series for both classes.
