Just watched the CBS version of the race, and just curious how stock is Short's production CRF450? I know he gave up his works bike, but was there any components that he was able to keep, maybe from a practice bike? Running top 10 in SX is great, and even better for the amount of time he had this week.

that was a stock bike dude. stock motor, stock tranny, stock frame, he had wheels suspension, controls, brakes clutch and exhaust from the looks of it, saw foot pegs and a shifter that were probably aftermarket as well.

I don't get that. I'd think someone would have something to give the guy.

not in a week, even if the team and bikes , parts and mechanic were in place. contracts / business. sounds like he's staying on the kranyak team and working on new sponsors for THEM from his interview w/ vital from this weekend.

honestly it'd be sick if he could just get a pro circuit bike of his liking and go at it, top tens are obtainable and respectable.

Just watched the Short video on RacerX - he got the bike Thursday...sounds like stock motor with Hinson clutch, stock suspension just set up for him - WOW! Granted there was some carnage at the beginning, but still that was a heck of a ride on a basically production bike!

To put it simple, I have seen Vet beginners with more upgrades on their bikes than Shortys

An exhaust, Merge Link, and a suspension specialist is all you need on the Honda to race at the top level.

Short wants to race no matter what cards he's dealt. Not too many other riders would go to the trouble if their team folded.

This may be better for him in the long run, he doesn't have to deal with Brooks anymore, and hopefully doesn't have to worry that his team truck will be at the race every week.

In the SX Live! show K-Dub raised the question of AS29 ever receiving a paycheck from that team..

Heard that as well, if that is the case that's just filthy. With the people running that team, they could come up with something dont ya think, talk about disrespectful. Hope that is not the case. I would think something like that could be a dangerous distraction in an unforgiving sport.

Really like to know for sure before I commit that to memory!

I've gotta say, if that's the truth.... well I won't say it until I know for sure...

When I heard his bike came out of Texas I was thinking it must be a Merge Racing bike. If so it is far from stock. Or maybe they left the motor stock as it is probably easier to ride on a SX track. I have a full built Merge Racing bike and it is absolutely ridiculously fast. Lightened crank, head work, polished trans, his program on a Vortex ignition. I have no idea what I was thinking I definitely don't need it.

I would say its almost certain Short got little, if any, payment from the team. They got into financial trouble early on and the rider is probably the easiest payment not to make. Everything else you either pay or you lose it. We will probably never hear the whole story, its really none of our business, and I hope Andrew lands on his feet with a good team.

I was impressed with his ride last night.

I'd like to think they told him straight up what was gong on and offered an out early or to continue with support but no paycheck.

It's not a merge bike, the pictures are of jimmy Albertsons bike. Enzo did shorts suspension...

I don't understand if you know you don't have enough money to lease a factory bike, semi and everything else why you don't get an OEM bike make it the best you can, get a sprinter can and make it to as many races as you can.

All I can guess is they thought the checks would be coming but never showed up.
