Help me decide, NEW member 150SX vs 250F

Im trying to decide between a KTM150SX or a 250F.

Background info:

Im 36, been riding for 26 years, haven't raced in about 10 though. Just backyard practice tracks, and once in a while practice days now. Im currently not B class fast somewhat out of shape lol. I was a top 5 B rider when I raced but that's long gone, with kids and careers now.

I weight about 195, so I know I'm heavy for either but don't really care, I don't need a 450 since this is just for playriding, and I like to ride pretty aggressive and would probably hurt myself on a 450 riding that way ( I had 450s when I raced), plus the play track I normally ride at is pretty tight. I like lighter bikes so I know the 150 and 250F feel much better to me for playing around.

My last bikes were a new 2010 CRF250R which I LOVED that bike, and last year a had a used 2010 KTM125 I found which was also fun. I rode my friends 2014 150SX and I like its all smiles for sure, but not sure if a full season as my main bike on a fairly tight track most days is the right fit.

Help me out here, what do you guys think?

2 strokes truck, 4 strokes suck. Cool

Heh, heh. Just thought I'd start this thread off right!
If you want to ride like a Vet, go with the 250F. If you plan to sharpen your skills again and have a blast doing it, 150 all the way.

This is the correct answer.

I'm 50. Sold the 250F and now have an RM144. I don't regret it at all.

As much as I love riding a 125 or 144, I couldn't only own that. So my vote is 250F if you can only have one.

Or you could man up and get a 250 two stroke. Because they are great.

I have the KTM 125 and 250f. If I wasn't doing the handful of vet races a year, I think I'd exclusively ride the 125.

I think the answer is in your third paragraph. You 'LOVED' the 2010 CRF250R and the 125 and 150 were 'fun'

You will pull the same amount of vageen with either choice.

Welcome back to riding!

The best feeling in the world was when I got the holeshot in 250 A at a local race on a stock 150 vs hogged out 250fs.

ill just leave that there.

Just bought a Husky tc125 that I will be comparing with my fc250 back to back on Sunday. Best way to go is to have both if its possible for you.

Buy yourself a new leftover 16 crf250r. No doubt you will love it more than your 10 plus you'll have a ton of leftover dough to keep fresh tires on it and spend on the ladies that you'll apparently be having a harder time bagging by not choosing the 150.........duh, that was easy.

You sound like the perfect candidate for a 350...

I would buy a leftover CRF if I could find one at a decent price? Anybody know of one and where? There are only a couple low hours used one out there, lots of used KXs out there for sale Ive noticed.

I already bought a 2014 KTM 150SX w 29 hrs on it. All original. Im still looking for a 250F. I decide Ill buy both and sell the other.....

I might try a 350SX but not for that kind of money without trying one first. I don't know anyone who has one so that's probably out.

Thanks for everyone that commented.

Well i have a 200 sx which will smoke rhat 150. I also have a 250f. The 200 for tight woods and the 250f for mx track. 250f for hare scrambles. If you ask me there is no contest. Just get a 2013+ 250f. The old ones suck.

Nice, congrats on the buy! Don't forget to give yourself time to get used to hammering the 150. Took me a few days to remember how to ring out the 2 stroke. Adjusting the power valve really helps tune the power band hit, I found a great setting that really helped my riding.

Really? How do y oh tune the powervalve? I'll have to open it up to see. Didn't realize it's adjustable. I mean I know which way should work for mI'd power but never changed one.

I ordered a FMF combo and a 50 tooth rear from the stock 48. I'm buying new springs front and rear since I'm heavy. Not sure if I should revalve yet or maybe forks only.

Looking for a clean used cr or kx 250f now....
