Hey guys. Sorry to lower the mood, but I'm trying to figure out something unique for my father's ashes when he passes. I grew up from a young age riding and racing moto and my dad was by my side the whole time. We lived motocross for years. He is on his deathbed and I was trying come with a moto related urn or figuring out something creative to keep his ashes in, and I'm drawing blanks on coming up with ideas. I have been on this forum for years, and value mostly everyone's opinion on here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Take a lap at Unadilla, Red Bud, or Hi Point and let him fly with you.
I actually was just talking about my ashes, spread me in Beyonce's underwear drawer.

I would take some cool aspects of his personality and life and/or some old photos and have an artist custom paint a gas tank from a motorcycle for an Urn. I think that would be pretty cool, but im not sure what would fit with your situation exactly.

My condolences mate, how about a Two stroke cylinder with the cylinder head as the lid.

Either way, it's the memories that it represents that matter most.

Can't imagine.

Are you guys near where he taught you to ride? I quite like the cylinder idea where he taught you to ride.

That actually might be perfect too. I could find his favorite bikes cylinder (2001 CR125R, if you can believe it, lol) and do that. Gotta lot of research to do now.

Thanks for the condolences guys. He was an awesome dad and a pretty decent rider too. I remember the first time I legitimately beat him like it was yesterday. Man, time fucking flies. We owned a nice practice track and he let a lot of kids ride there. Also helped out a good amount of my friends to be able to afford to ride. He was one of a kind and a father that I strive to be with my kids.

Ok, so my Dad's ashes are sitting in my brother's closet at his house, as we still can't decide,
Mum is still alive and kicking.

We think of possibly throwing them out to sea, but then what?

Then we came across this, they roll or encapsulate the ashes in, or within glass.
With imagination you could come up with a moto theme if that's what you desire.

Again, my father is still in a box in a closet, it's such a hard decision.

Keep your head up, it will get easier, eventually.

Sorry for what you're going through.

Maybe when I'm gone, I'll just have my ashes put in a vintage Klotz bottle.

Two stroke fumes forever!

I'd rebuild a 2001 CR 125, ride that around his favorite track and spread his ashes as you ride it.

Sounds like you were blessed with a hell of a Father. That kind of relationship never dies, he'll ride with you every time you swing a leg over a bike.

My dad died in my arms after a long fight in hospital......i cremated my dad and his sits in a urn on the counter between a few of the bigger championship trophies...i decided to pit a small picture of him with me next to his urn...im hold on to him until my mom passes who lives with me and actually came to Lorettas with me the 14' and goes to mammoth every year...i will have her cremated as well and put them together in a larger urn and then most likey spread them together....they were married for 50yrs......just seems right to keep them together.....

Sorry to hear bud. My dad has always said he wants his ashes spread in the first turn at Washougal. Not sure how stoked the riders would be to get roosted with that but that's what he wants.

I like the cylinder Idea.
We had a guy a long time ago want his ashes spread at a local track. So we did a big parade lap and the first guys spread his ashes as we rode. Kinda funny that the guys in the first practice after that split to both sides of the track to avoid that area. I dread the days when I have to go through what you are today. Cherish those memories.

Sorry to hear, but sounds as if good times were had!

This past weekend at the Rio Bravo AHRMA National and Old School Reunion, there were ashes spread in the first turn prior to the days events.

Sorry to hear about your father. Been there and it sucks! I like the idea of the cylinder. Knowing my dad, my sisters took my fathers ashes to a couple of his favorite places preceding his ashes being placed in the family plot. He would have loved it. We visited his old GMC dealership (Glen Ellyn, Il) that he owned, sat him at his desk, toured the mechanics area, took him to his favorite restaurant (sorry...) Portillos, en route. Sad at the time but it brought back some great memories. Dad's are great!

I am so sorry you are going through this.

I know we're all different, but for me, it felt..what..I hate to say "better" as that is bs...

But, it "felt" something that did not suck as much when I was able to return my brothers, and fathers ashes back to the earth. My brothers went into the ocean.

For me, it felt better than keeping them. Keeping them reminded me it truly was "over". Giving them back meant it was not....

Silly, I know, but do what makes you feel best. I have to say it made me smile when I thought of ashes going into to a motocross track.

I am sorry to hear about your father, I am going through the same thing right now... pretty sobering when you can see their condition worsen with each visit.

I know I am not ready to go through this... UnsureSad

Tough situation to be in. It might be hard to do but maybe just ask your dad, if possible. Otherwise, I would offer up putting his ashes in an 01 CR125 frame and ride the bike in his favorite places. Planting a tree or bush and put the ashes in the hole at memorable riding areas is a good way to have a reminder of the good times.

How about taking one of your old MX boots (assuming you may still have a pair or two lying around) and having one bronzed first and then sealed after his ashes have been placed inside? Sorry to hear of your plight. Prayers sent. John

My condolences Red Rider. The CR125 cylinder and the gas tank both sound great. There is something to be said though for returning his ashes to the earth. It's somehow freeing.

Your dad and your family will be in my prayers.

Instead of the cylinder. Do the whole engine. You can clean it up and make it look like a factory engine. no piston or anything like that. No need for a rebuild. Just a sweet looking motor. Maybe an engine stand with some pics and stuff.
