It's supposed to be officially announced before or at the night of A1. It's a rumor of course , so take it as you will.

If true , I'm bummed , as I would of liked to of seen him try one more season.

Either way , it's been a great career James , and thank you for all those awesome rides!

Why wait if you are stepping away.. or will he´s contracts need to be filled until 1.1.17 by keeping quiet?

If true, this will definitely be the worst end to a career of a phenom that has ever happened. RC must be like "yep, this is why I retired on top".

The text i got from a buddy of mine is usually pretty spot on about this stuff. But even he gets it second hand...so who knows. He said it's been an extremely strong rumor since this past weekend.

Because he accounts for 30% of the ticket sales. The supercross big wigs are providing him with a golden parachute to ensure he waits until right before A1. I learned that here on Vital.

I agree, equally tragic and epic career.

I'm going to miss that #badassmotherfucker on the track. Maybe we'll get a chance to see what he can do behind the mic...

I'm not saying it's true. I am just repeating what I heard here.
He read it on the Internet so it must be true!

Think about it though if James wanted to go out on top that would've been at least 6 years ago. Crazy to think about him calling it good back then.

(Kidding)

I heard it from the mouth of a Feld guy two years ago when I was covering the St. Louis SX for a friend who is a journalist (I'm not) that James' absence made a "huge impact" on ticket sales. I don't know about 30%...but that's all I was told. Maybe Feld has asked him to postpone the announcement until right before A1. Who knows?

As much a fan as I am of JS7, if he can't ride like he knows he can any more...I'd rather see him retire this way than have to retire because of further & more serious injury.

Good point, but I just think that the ban & following season was deplorable. Even if he quit after high point 2014 it would have been much, much better than this. No he wasn't the best then, but he still won races and was a contender every time he was on the line.

Pretty sad to go out the way he is. I text a friend a few weeks ago and said "bet he announces retirement at A1 Press Conference", hope I'm wrong and he shows up in shape and ready to go.

Pretty hard to believe he'd show up in shape and ready to race with absolutely "no" leaked photo or video of either or.

That in itself is a pretty tall accomplishment in itself given insta everything today...

Pretty sure that there are "neighbors" to the Stewart's that see through the Orange trees if there is any James action going on

Yes, there is always "that guy" and he hasn't been able to capture a shot at the grove to date

The writing is on the wall...

Ride on James!

I think he shows up for a fair well tour, to much ego to just retire.

Amazing career. Most talented supercross rider to ever touch a supercross track. The lines he pulled were incredible. Unstoppable during his 125 days. IMO if he's on it no one can match his speed

I see it as a great thing (if true) that he is walking away because with the knowledge we have on concussions now, it should encourage him to retire. Seeing the results of concussions from contact sports and the horrible result with Dave Mirra earlier this year.... walk away Bubba. He needs to enjoy his family and time. Had a great career and I hope he stays around in some way, but hopefully this is a new chapter. I wish him the best!

I agree with this.

James has had an incredible career (save the last few years) and will be a legend in this sport forever.

Speed, talent, style was off the charts.

Yep, not sure what race or how many races but he will be surrounded by his long-time sponsors and he will be doing a few laps on a Suzuki.
