Have we see Dungey's Best yet

I don't think Dungey is even close to reaching his potential, Heck! the kids a Rookie and he's already proven he can run Stewarts pace or faster. This is just the way it goes in this sport, guys that look super fast today, will look slow in comparison to the guys racing Professionally 10 years from now. There were people that probably thought McGrath rode a Dirtbike as fast as it possibly could be ridden on an SX track, then came RC and upped the Game, Ricky retired on top ( which seldom happens ) and then came Stewart who seemed to raise the Bar. Now we have a New Generation of kids coming in who are going to be setting the new standard in SX. Stewart has been Pro since 2002, that's 8 years and he's on the Downword slope of his career and those injuries are going to catch up to him sooner or later and he won't be willing to hang it out as much as he use to. The same thing happend to RC, after 10 years Pro, he decided enough is enough and he had nothing left to prove, he beat ALL comers. I think were going to be amazed at what Dungey and Villopoto are going to do in the next few years.

IMO, the single biggest reason that MC is the King of SX is the fact that he stayed pretty much injury free most of his career... sure he was faster than anyone else most of his career, but making every lap of every main sure helped keep his speed and confidence up.... Henry is perhaps my favorite rider of all time (Magoo is close), and perhaps Henry was faster than MC certain years in SX, but injuries kept him from ever winning the "big" sx title... if Henry wouldn't have broken his back in the mid 90's, he might very well have won several "big" class sx titles.....

how does that tie into Dungey? well.... as we've seen several times before, rookies in the 45 class tend to get hurt... if Dungey can make it through this SX season in one piece, it will help him be even faster in the future...

Couldn't bear to read whole thread. Yeah Dungey has officially peaked in the 3rd race of his rookie season. It's all downhill from here. The younger blood is taking over. In fact, why not make his first championship SX season also his farewell tour. Then he can call it a career and get into more serious things like monster truck racing or ice fishing. Thanks for the memories RD, you will be missed Dizzy
