I am not sure of the production numbers, but the AMMEX has to be close as far as seeing one for sale today.

I've seen the one at Tom White's museum. Very cool.

Wow that's a rare bird and all the original stuff. I knew a guy who's Dad bought him one of the later models 77 or 78 I think. I told him it was a cool bike even though I thought it was junk. I wish I had it today.

Although I prefer the 78" the 75' is super rare to find. Not in bad condition at all.

Tom White has both the early HD and an AMMEX, I drooled a little on both while there. I would love to find an AMMEX, for a fair price.

Every time I see the fork on the rear suspension setup I think - can I just take a pair of forks and cut them, the springs, and thread the top? Almost looks too easy and a deep rut might cause come problems I think. Really cool bike - curious where this goes - 3D's left and already at $5K.

Very impressive. American motocross ingenuity at its finest. The Harley brain trust paved the way for the high tech efforts of Cannondale. Both were true pioneers of bike development in this great sport and proof that there is nothing we can't take apart and figure out why it's not broke.

Someone here bought one of those for around $3500.00 towards the end didn't they? I love me a little oddity.

Rob,

Does the Hawkstone track use any of the old original track from the early sixties?
