Has anyone ever rode an ATK 700

Edited Date/Time 12/5/2018 4:26pm
This has always been one of those bike that i thought would be fun just to ride for the day. Just wondering if anyone has even see one, impressions? Can you even kick the thing with 700cc of compression?

Maico (if they still exist) makes the 700. There's a vid on youtube.

A friend of mine had a big bore ATK but I never rode it. I don't honestly remember if it was a 700 though. He spent 2 years with that bike and by the time it was done his teeth looked like something from Deliverance and there was permanent nerve damage in his hands due to the vibration. It really was funny as hell to watch him try to start it since it was left side kick start.

dang, riding supermoto on a 700cc two stroke would have to be kind of like when King Kenny Roberts raced mile dirt tracks with a tz 750.

Fun to watch in awe, but wouldn't really want to try it personally in a serious attempt to win a national.

Motor is made by Zabel. German, I think. It was developed for Mx sidecar use. Maico uses the same motor.

I want one just for the adrenaline rush while blasting past the new neighbors (horse folk) every once in awhile.

Yes they're the type who complain about everything.

Nice job, Zippy. That's funny. Like those Big Head Dogs in ToysRUs.

Indy I could not get the link's to work. As a Maico owner from the 70's, I'd love to ride a 500cc version of the bike pictured.

Rich Winkler of Dirt Wurx was supposed to import those for 2011 but it never happened. I think they would have been a tough sell as the price was going to be upwards of 10 grand I believe.

That's SO 2 years ago!

I think the Best Maicos had 2 shocks and cornered like a Ferrari.

Not really a fair comparison there. A new 700cc single would make upwards of 70hp whereas that old Maico only made 42.

Looks like 700cc stuffed into a stretched out 1985 YZ 125 frame. Kinda lite on the frameage bro.

I would love to see that bike tackle a SX track.
(AX would be embarrassing.)

I sure hope that picture is reversed. Left side kick and pipe, right side drive? They must really want to be different.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was a 760 or 780. He had an article on it over at SuperHunky (.com) I think.
