Tough subject to discuss for even myself, but has anyone thought along the lines of CTE like symptoms for some of our most prevalent racers?
In no way am i saying James Stew has CTE, but has anyone else thought that maybe all these head knocks are effecting his mental ability when he is under stress of a moto and high heart rate? It seems logical and possible that cognitive load would be effected after so many concussions as James has head. It's well documented even by himself that he was not himself after the concussion this year at the start of the SX, At what point does this push James into thinking about hanging up the boots? As a racer being stubborn is part of the deal and i don't mean this in a shallow way or in any way as a hater, I mention with genuine concern. The more and more we learn about head injuries and the effects of it the more it makes me feel like not enough racers take it into consideration. Broc Hepler maybe the only guys publicly who has moved on because of head injury.
I can't help consider this is at least some of the reason James is having a hard time staying ahead of the track when he is racing at top ability. Emig recently put it together well in the Steve Pod on the GH preview, James doesn't really read and react the to race track like he used too. I hope that this is not the case but it scares me to think that this may be effecting him & others
What do you guys think? All this recent data and info about Dave Mirra, even the interview with his wife has made this a real concern for a lot of people. I have been lucky over the many years of BMX and Moto to never really have any head injuries.
What do you guys think? Is it something you have thought about more since the info about Dave?

I don't think its far fetched to think there is possible differences in James riding in a cognitive manor later in his career.
Mirra was hit by a car also. Which puts it into another category IMO.

Otherwise....what's the point? I refuse to live that way , and if tomorrow is the last day I ever throw my leg over a dirt bike , then so be it.
But you've also gotta add in James condition. He might be heavier on purpose for his health, said he got sick a lot in 14, but weight doesn't necessarily indicate fitness.. He has said he didn't have the preparation done because of France, Monster Cup etc. He could have had the physical prep and the bike testing done before but that's neither here nor there... not sure why they didn't and it's too late regardless...
If Hangtown was any indication though, yikes. He doesn't need to hit the deck anymore, that's for sure.
Things might be moving a little too fast for Bubs these days.
On the issue of head injuries, I am selling my wake boat and getting back on the bikes. I have had a few concussions in my years riding bikes. Only had my boat for 3 years and every second day out I am taking hits to the head. Not knocked out but decent hits. I was standing in the kitchen with a really pissed off look on my face the other day. Missus asked me what was wrong and I just looked at her and said "I can't remember what I wanted to do" Every now and then it wouldn't be too bad but it's all the time now. I used to laugh it off but at 32 it's getting me worried
Mirra had other issues where he didn't achieve results he wanted and let depression get to him. But lots of times families like to have something to link it to so as to reason why what happened did.
More vets commit suicide than athletes and I'm sure they are mentally hurt not physically hurt.
