Hanny on the suzuki rumor?

9/27/2012 8:08 AM

So the hot rumor at all the test tracks this week has been surrounding Hanny. Word on the street is that RC and the Dirt Shark have gone together to get the kid on a bike and going to the races! If this is true good luck to you Josh!

Wish he'd race the damn Nationals!

The kid is full of talent, but I'm just not sure how he continues to get rides when he cannot produce. I'd love to see him fully commit and do well, because I have nothing against him, but I'm just not sure how he continues to get people to give him rides and money.

He seemed comitted to Supercross last year. He got hurt. He must have something going for him or he wouldn't keep getting the rides that he does.

At the start of the year he was on it, even before everyone got hurt. The question is, can he stay focused the whole series..?

RC and Dirt shark getting him to the races hardly sounds like a ride. Who else can get a top 10 with a full field, or a top 5 for that matter, who doesn't already have a deal? What's your interpretation of fully commit?

He's good for the sport and he is a draw into their pits. Now if they can bridge that with the hard work and dedication that RC brings to the table.

I thought I remember a few top 5 finishes last year in SX with a stacked field. Pretty productive in my opinion.

The first half of the season he was a top 10 guy for the most part and also got a couple top 5's (I think he was H&H's best guy last year with 2 top 5's).
Then seemed to get injured. Still ended up in the top 20 in points (18th) in the big boy class with the way the cards fell.
But he does indeed need to put a full year together in that class and consistently finish in the top 10 and make all mains and finish the season.Keep moving forward not backwards. Last season was an odd season to say the least though.
Hopefully he can put it together this year....I don't think it's going to get any easier, and with his talent there is no reason he shouldn't be top 10 or better if he gives it 100% and stays healthy. I guess only time will tell.

Here's to wishing Josh the best of luck in 2013!

If I remember correctly he said he can't do the nationals cause he has serious back issues and it doesn't hold up to the brutalness of the outdoors. Regardless he has talent and hope he does well and stays injury free. Cause when he's on it he's on and the results show.

Guys, he nearly won a 250 SX title in 2011 and was riding really well this year until he got hurt. I don't really like the kid's image, but give him some credit where it's due: he's been going fast and hasn't flaked.

First post? Anyone else raise an eyebrow at this? So many questions. Is that really Hansen? If so, is the poster on the team?

But I agree that Hansen brings some flair to SX. He's an interesting character for sure. He definitely grunted it out last season. I'm a bit fuzzy on the memory. Is H&H going yellow this year and is Hanny off that team?

Ironic H&H dropped him, but they prob don't have many faster options for B riders. Saying that, you could throw a cloth over him and Tickle in SX. Isn't like Tickle would be a huge upgrade SX wise either.

He is like 28 or 29 right? Not much more time left in a racing role for him.

I would say that that's Josh for sure. Didn't Watson say that they were going to have two guys in Supercross for 2013 but only one guy for Nationals? This would make sense. Monster loves him, Kenny and Carey love him. He's a solid rider and can definitely surprise people with his speed. I'd rather have him than Tickle for SX.

He was out at Starwest riding on Tuesday......
Anyone see him?
Maybe on yellow perhaps?

I think Hanny can pull a K-Dub and ride until he has grey hair..

Please appreciate that I call a spade a spade. I'm a straight talker with no connections and no agenda. I will happily apologize if I'm wrong and If I am right I will not gloat. I love the sport and that's all there is to it.

He has been out at Pala the last two times I have been out there this month. He was on a Suzuki both times. I thought it was odd that he was only riding the Vet track though. He didn't ride that much or very hard for that matter, but, he looks good and has great style.

I'd love to have one of his results during my days anyway? And you?

I bet they relased him in order to restructure H&H and the saleries they pay riders. (Example: The Denver Broncos released backup QB to Peyton Manning, Caleb Haney so that they would not have to pay him some$ 250,000 bonus, but then Re-signed him the following Monday.

I bet H&H resigns him for a SX only contract on Suzuki's, with help from RC , Monster, and Dirt Shark.

2nd year in the SX Class ... looking/hoping for plenty of top 10 finishes in 2013. If all the top guys are healthy, top ten will be a great result.

I know everybody is taking my comment to the nth degree, but like I said, I'd love to see him do well. The guy has been racing Pro since 2001. 12 years going on 13. How many championships does he have to show for that many years pro, and a good chunk of them in the Lites class? That's why I suggest he's under-performing.

9/27/2012 12:25 PM

Didn't he hate Tickle in 2011 and even pitted elsewhere near the end of his run?

H&H needs a SX only rider to go with their other full time rider.

so he has been racing as a pro for going on 12 years but is underperforming.....

When He came into the Pro ranks most folks expectations of him were pretty high and still are to a certain degree.
He tied in points with a championship and lost because of wins that year.
IMO - I believe that was his best season in AMA pro racing and as close as he got to a Championship.
He did do well down under and took that Championship....for what it's worth (huge difference from AMA though).
A couple XGames wins helped with marketing his name a bit though which were a plus in his career.
He has had a few signs of accomplishments here and there.
He won Lites races & gotten podiums ect...
There are a lot of guys who spend a long time in this sport that don't achieve a fraction of what he has achieved.
NO AMA CHAMPIONSHIPS though..... I understand what you are saying.
But he is one of those guys that just can be there with the top 20 (when consider all lites guys & 450 guys in SX) in the world in this sport on any given day.
It all boils down to expectations. Personally though from the time he has turned pro I seen him a couple times come close, but no cigar.

If all you guys saying he shouldnt be on a team ran teams. Well lets just say there wouldnt be a whole lot of teams left. Its easy to be a Monday morning quarterback. But there is way more things to think about and align than most of you would like to believe!

Correct. You must average at least one Pro championship every three years in order to not underperform.
