That 85 looks great! The japs better start doing some R&D or the 85 market will look like the 65 market, all KTMs. I know that Husky 85 has a lot of the KTM 85 in it but another option could be what the 85 class needs!

I don't care if it's a mix of KTM and Husaberg for now, I'm just glad that the Husqvarna name and it's world championship history have survived to battle another day. Sorry this didn't happen for Maico, CZ, Bultaco, Montesa, A.J.S, etc. I hope that Gas Gas, Beta, and Sherco jump into the 300 MXGP two stroke class too.

Agreed! Just the other day I was telling my son about all the bikes my dad and uncles rode. Now we have five :-|

The new bike does look a lot like the mid 80's Husky. Sharp looking bike IMO.

Great looking bikes but I'm not a fan of the GM style "branding" wherein different "brands" are really one brand. It was OK with Husaberg until the upside down motor was discontinued and 'bergs became blue KTMs. Now the same thing with Husky. Fooey!
Makes me feel like I'm being taken for a fool by the manufacturer. I don't like smoke and mirror marketing.

+2

Not to mention, if it's the same thing as the KTM and its cheaper, why buy the KTM? Makes no sense to me. But I guess there is a market for it and KTM is good at picking a certain group out and getting them to buy their bikes.

So are these exact clones of KTMs or are they KTM/Husaberg hybrids?

The Husaberg line is still up and running but if I understand the above poster correctly, they are no longer unique and they are clones as well?

So 3 different brands, all different plastics, but basically the same bikes?

No I believe the Husaberg's will remain unchanged for 2014 except for Husky logos. Only the MX line is a KTM clone for this first year. You can't expect much from this first run of bikes, they only acquired Husky earlier this year.

I wonder if any freestylers will use the 2 stroke huskys

I have to agree, this IS a slick looking moto bike. It looks fast sitting still.

I have to question their quality control though, after seeing that the TC85 has no valve stem cap on the front wheel

So Husaberg has become Husky Enduro and Husky MX is KTM clones?

My next bike was going to be the KTM 350. Love the bike, hate the orange. Was planning on going with white plastics.

Thanks for saving me a ton of money. I'll get the Husky version.

My very limited understanding is the 2014 Husaberg's were already made and just rebranded as Husky enduro bikes. The MX line is a KTM frame and motor with a redesigned sub-frame and plastics. I could be wrong, I'm sure more details to come.

I think you are spot on. Pit Beirer said that the first production would be close to KTM, but they are supposed to be their own workgroup within. So the longer we go, the more difference according to Pit.

Dunno about this, I was hoping they would work on the existing Husqvarna and improve it, rather than totally ditcing everything about it and instead taking the KTM and just do a spinn off.

I beleive this will be different than the Husaberg projekt. Husqvarna as a label have a value that Husaberg wouldn't come close to. Personally I'm more open to the brand than KTM because of MX-history and being a Swede. It will be interesting to see if they take care of the legacy or burry it to kill competition.

Strange, I thought the CEO (?) of KTM, who was the buyer of Husky, and previous majority share holder of KTM (sold his shares?) would do his own project with Husqvarna, now it seems to be very within business?

Am I wrong or didn't KTM said they will totally bury the Husaberg brand and use Husqvarna instead?

You're not wrong.

They look awesome, I love the styling.

It's going to be one of the most fascinating points of 2014, seeing how they progress through the season. Glad Tyla's on board.

So they went with a plastic sub-frame? That seems like a bad idea to me. Dry

The existing Husky was very long in the tooth and about to be completely overhauled by BMW anyways.

It would have been nice if the new prototypes would have been involved in the sale, then the Husky's would be their own bikes.

Problem is, the new Huskys that were in development were going to be better than the existing KTMs. So I doubt KTM had any interest in purchasing the design rights.

And because someone is going to ask, what makes me think the prototypes were going to be so good? They were designed by the same firm that did KTMs current line of bikes.

I feel bad for my friends in Varese. Nobody there saw this coming until it was too late.
