Was watching Gold Rush tonight and they had a dude navigating the chopper cam and it crashed into the Loader, Then they brought in an expert to redo the shot and it was such a hit they sent him and his crew to a remote location and the shot they took became the show opener, Very cool shot with the Phantom chopper hanging low on the river then panning out to the waterfall as it flew over.

Looks like you may be in demand as more and more TV crews are using the Phantom cam to capture Video like no other.

I thought of his National shots also when watching that. They had a 100 people on their crew down South.

I agree with DitRoad.......but there would prolly be such a mess after everyone gets one and decides to "get the shot" that we would need air traffic control!!!WoohooWoohooWoohooWoohoo

The aerial drones are illegal to use for commercial purposes. The FAA has shut down a couple businesses that got big enough to get noticed. They say you need a license, but the FAA is still a year or more off from starting to issue them. I would think the gold rush shot was out of the country, maybe the Klondike in Canada?

I have a phantom vision as well as an eight rotor that I'm almost done building. They sure are a lot of fun and I'm going to sign up for the license whenever they get around to it.

That Thunder Valley video was a cool perspective and all but it was giving me the brain pain.

Hey Bill, the one they used in GR seemed like a home made jobber, very trick w/ its kimble camera mount and stuff. Gibbys is called a Phantom because that is who makes it "DJ Phantom", here is a shot of one for comparison:

Just a little FYI on why its a "Phantom" Cool

I'm good with flying it on press day or private shoots, but I wouldn't want to fly over crowds or near riders or during races.

My friend Randy owns a big online hobby shop which used to sponsor me for my flying and he got really big into the quad and octo copters. I never did as it just didn't interest me all that much. The biggest bird I have now is 105" across the wings and is running a Ported and balanced BME 116cc on the front , ripping a 28" prop. This is one of my 35% Yak's with the BME strapped to the front.

The weight of that 116cc motor only weighs 4.4lbs. Most powerful , power to weight RC motor on the planet.

As far as the electric , I have plenty of those ( all airplanes as well ). My 89" 3DHS AJ Slick is equipt with a Nue 1521 , which runs on a 12S set up with a CC 160amp ESC. Haven't flown this bird yet since I switched it over to electric....should be fun though.
