hey guys, was going to post this in non-Moto but figured since it's mostly moto related it could go here.

i went and did some trail riding this weekend and have a couple great videos of some climbs and single-track that i would like to trim down as the video file sizes are upwards of 500mb each. what editing software would you recommend? i would prefer free, but paying isn't a huge problem as i'll get a lot of use out of it.

also never uploaded to youtube, but i plan to upload so that i can share.

any help would be appreciated

ps... here's a little preview of the terrain we were riding

hell ya man, looks good. youtube is easy enough you can figure it out, just sign in and look for the upload button.

I copped a cracked version of adobe premier elements 9 from pirate bay. There is some free trial ones out there, but they usually watermark your video with some stupid crap.

your computer might have come with some free movie maker type software.

Which model GoPro? The new Hero3 format is slightly different - Movie Maker can't handle the new ones.

Movie Maker should be the easiest to use and it's free. Start there then when you want more, go to Adobe Premier Elements...

The only problem with Music Maker is that it doesn't handle all of the video formats. If you're going to learn an editing software check out Sony Vegas Pro. The consumer version is inexpensive on Amazon, and the pro version is about $300 on eBay.

There's also a trial version of pro on their website.

Did you try the program from GoPro?

Go Pro

It's free, fairly easy to use to cut down on the size of those videos.

divx converter is free aswell, clean interface to simply just convert files into lower res formats. Easy peasy.

Hey peelout, I use the GoPro cineform studio to cut clips down and then Windows Movie Maker to combine them into one. Check settings and keep display size to 1920 x 1080 pixels and aspect ratio to 16:9. These settings are very important to keep high quality when uploading to Youtube! That is about all I've figured out but with some patience I've made a few decent videos. I'm using a hero 2, also. Good luck!

from the editing performance and custom support, i would say gopro video editor is your best choice, simple to cut, add text, background music, upload to youtube or burn to dvd, hope this would be helpful.

Get yourself a Linux machine and install OpenShot. It's free and damn good video editing software. Supports all file types and as many tracks as you have memory for. Exports to bunch of differnet formats including MS/WMV, Youtube, Vimeo, ect.

The GoPro software you don't really do anything with except import and color and isn't really that useful except for one clip at a time, if your looking on the budget for software to edit multiple then get imovie its 15 bucks and does the job just fine. If that made any sense.

Yo Peely, if you haven't found your answer from your post in 2013 our bud JoeBanks312 apparently has the golden ticket. So good that he needed to revitalize your thread and create and account just to make sure you were happy with the overall Go Pro experience.
