The annual 24 Hours of Glen Helen took place this past weekend. It's quite a bit different then what most people would imagine GH has to offer. Also, racing at night can be intense when locked into a battle like I had around 3:30AM on Sunday morning.

Here's a full lap of the 9 mile course:

That is indeed the DBT Beta team. We ended up 3rd Open Pro/Overall right where we expected to finish. The 4 of us are all 18 year old kids so we didn't expect to quite run with the top 2 teams the whole race but we did our best and overcame some of the small mechanicals that we had. Beta ran great almost the whole time and still runs like a champ now!

That looks like a really fun track, but the sun looked absolutely brutal in quite a few spots for you. Hope you had tinted goggles.

The pass at around the 8 minute mark is scary as fuck. Kudos! Cool videos.

Well done!! I love night racing!!! We did the 24 hours of Starvation Ridge in Washington last weekend. That is my 11th year of racing that event and when the conditions are good it is such a blast!!

Question though, it didn't look like you had helmet lights on?? And what bike light are you using also? I have a Trail Tech X2 HID setup that I am going to ditch in favor of LED next year. Just still on the fence about the XL80 R or something from Task Racing or something different yet. Any feedback would be great!

Cheers,

Ryan

Nope, no helmets lights. The lights are so good and we've never had a problem with them shutting off so there's no need to attract more dust to the face. We're running 3 KC HiLites pods on top and a KC light bar on bottom. We run half the lights off the bike battery and the other 2 pods off a separate battery that way if one system goes out there's still a back up and it'd take a lot of power to run all of the lights. i'll try to get a picture uploaded to show what we have.

At the time it seemed like a great idea but watching it over it was a little sketchy. But it got the job done so it's all worth it!

Is there an Ironman class where one rider does all 24h?
I'd love to do a 24h race in a team of two or three. Alone, not so much Whistling
