I enjoyed the heck out of the day! *Alessi/Schehr/Champion/LaFountaine (sp?) were flying (or so I'm told, as I never saw them), *22 riders (as GH originally planned for +/-25 participants), and it was a solid format test for a 125cc race in the future...

It almost was for photographers as the race started earlier than it was scheduled to (myself and GuyB were busy working and he had to rush out to catch any of the action).

Thanks for the effort. My 10yo son and I nearly missed the 2t Hangtown race. But I'm glad we barely caught it. I couldn't believe how pumped my kid was on it. It gave me hope for moto honestly.

What is the story with this race? How is it different than the 125 Dream Race?

You're lucky you caught it, I ran back to our trailer up in the camping area to grab some food thinking I had an hour, and they decided to run the race an hour early!Angry I watched it from the camp site fence so I saw a little bit, but I was bummed big time.

What do I think?

It would be great if moto was less expensive. But people want bikes that have great power, suspension, and components. That drives up cost. They don't want a bare-bones bike as a race bike.

It would also be great if motorcycle racing (in general) was more popular. I wish more people would step up to the challenge.

I could go all night, but then it would be my spew instead of yours.

Had to laugh when they said TM mounted Scott Champion was racing a Yamaha.

It's a stand alone, open class race at Glen Helen only, dubbed as aTwo Stroke Invitational; It's not part of the 3-race 125 series happening at Hangtown/Thunder Valley/Washougal.

oldblood: I'm glad you're digging the two stroke races, but you can't let them get you so giddy! Haha here's hoping someone has some actual race results to post to keep this thread on topic...

This is the way to get 2t's back into the system.....if it gains enough momentum having these races, it cannot be ignored....If efforts can be made to have a decent purse and one at every national, it could attract the right riders.

Lots of people think they need a bike like you described Gibby. So they buy a more or less 'works' bike that needs maintenance they can't perform and then bitch about it. I just bought a clapped out '90 KX250 for $500 that I'll spend probably another 7 or 8 hundred more on that I know without a doubt is more motorcycle than I am a rider. Essentially, it's a hundred dollars more than I paid for my first outdated race bike in 1975.... I aim to have just as much fun on this one as I did back then. Especially if I can talk JustMX Moto Joe into building a scramblecross type track close by! Motocross needs to de-evolve if it's going to survive. There's little chance of wooing new riders when the buy in is astronomical, the maintenance requires deep pockets and, the penalty for misjudging a jump is a 'bamalance ride. Tone it down.
