After about 6 5/6 years I'm just about ready to retire my old sg10's, I'm in the market fir some of these http://www.btosports.com/p/GAERNE10SG12
My sg10's are 9 and 1/2 us size.
Bto sports don't have any 10's left, but I can go elsewhere (suggestions?)
Will 9's fit okay? Not sure what the difference a half a size makes.

i wouldnt go with a 9 unless your 9.5's were pretty loose...

Second, the SG-12's are definitely more snug than the 10's and do not run big. They made the toe box smaller and slimmer on the 12's than the 10's. I have 10's and 12's both in size 9 and the 12's are definitely more snug in the front. I especially notice it because I have a wide foot.

For sizing, the reason some say they run large, is because of the CONVERSION, not the actual fit. Example, on many sport shoes, hiking shoes, etc shoes a size 12 is a 46. On Gaernes, an 11 is a size 46 and a 12 is a 47.
The trick to sizing them is NOT to reference other moto boots. Instead, take an average of the EU size of 2 - 3 pair of your casual, athletic, or hiking shoes, then cross against the Gaerne EU size, as follows:
42 = US 8
43 = US 9
44.5 = US 10
46 = US 11
47 = US 12
48 = US 13
If you are a little under, you'll need an aftermarket insole. They take up some of the space in the foot chamber, effectively reducing the size a bit. Makes a huge, huge improvement in the fit (cannot overstate this). You''ll probably want a thicker one for hiking boots.
FWIW I have worked with boots and cycling shoes fit in the past. As long as the person gets a good average of their size, this method usually works well.
BTW, different people like different boots, but Gaerne's fit is by far the best for the largest cross section of riders IMO.

The SG12's I wore a couple weeks ago were size 11 also......but I only needed 1 pair of socks. Two pairs would of been to tight.
42 = US 8
43 = US 9
44.5 = US 10
46 = US 11
47 = US 12
48 = US 13

Yes, a size 10, which is a 44.5. Or rather, since Gaerne thinks in EU sizes more than US, a 44.5, which is roughly a 10.
FWIW, the next size up is a 46, which will be a huge jump up. In most casual shoes, a 46 is an 11.5 or even a 12.

I just ordered a sg10 in 12... Confused over the sizing.
My foot is 11 inches length. Online shoe conversion charts put me at 11.5 US. I wear an icon 11.5 US as well.
Plus the gaerne website also places euro 45 in the range of 11.5-12 US...
Anyway hoping it isn't too big. Had it shipped to another country (Pakistan) so sending it back would cost alot
FYI - Astar/Gaerne/Fox do not make half sizes. The only brand that makes half sizes is Sidi and some half sizes they do not even offer.
Really BIG on SG 10s and a little bit big on the NEW 12s...
I am thinking size 45. Getting the white/red/blue set
I tried on a pair of SIDI Crossfire (not the SRS) yesterday at the track. I was wearing my SG12's.
The Sidi has a lower and narrower toe-box and the ankle cuff doesn't open up as large when the boot isn't buckled.
Both boots are size 10, but it was actually a little tough getting my foot into the SIDI. When it was in there, the top of my arch was pressing hard against the top of the boot and that prevented my foot from sliding all the way forward. There was a substantial amount of pressure against the back of the heel as a result.
So the SG12 feels very roomy for my wide toes and tall arches and it's easier to put on. Once they are buckled, they feel very secure, but comfortable.
A 9.5 wide shoe will rub on the tip of my big toe, so I run a size 10 in almost any brand.
