Front end conversion on 94 CR250

Edited Date/Time 10/31/2019 8:21pm
First of all Happy New Year to you all.

I want to convert the front end on my CR. I've heard that you can put later forks & yokes on it. So what is the best set up I can purchase? What year yokes & forks will fit? I know that I'll have to change the front hub. Will I also have to change the brake caliper? I'm not to worried about cost because it's is what it is.

Many thanks

Should be able to use 05+ cr250/450 forks and wheel, maybe bore the triple clamps out to accept the bigger diameter
tubes? I'm looking into this for my 93+cr500

I have an 08 CRF450 front end on my 1995 CR250. I used a '96 CR250 bottom clamp with .010" thick aluminum shims in the bores to make it work properly.

Any reason for the aftermarket top clamp? Can I use my 94 one? Also do I need to change my hub or do I just get a new axle and spacers?

I used the aftermarket top clamp to allow me to mount the bars more forward. I'm tall and the original clamp mounts the bars further back and makes the rider compartment feel cramped. I know that the 95-up top clamp fits the Twin Chamber forks, but I haven't confirmed that they will work with the 94 top clamp, so you may need a newer one to fit the TC forks.

I believe that the '94 and earlier CR's used a smaller axle, so you may need a newer hub/wheel to do the conversion. With the '95-up CR's, the original wheel works with the late model spacers, axle and brake caliper hanger.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll ring my local dealer tomorrow to see if the parts numbers for the axles are the same. Hopefully they are.

I don't it was so long ago. I probably still have the box on a shelf but I'm out of town for a few days. Have you tried calling applied?
