They haven't won shit for hundreds of years. The only people who tremble at the sound of French footsteps are British pastry chefs.

Get the fuck outa here.

2001, let me think. Oh ya, not a good year, one of the major players didn't show up. No matter, we'll give it to them. Redemption for that whole Vietnam thing.

I was once told by a German exchange student at my school, "why does France have so many trees? So Germans have shade when they are marching through the streets."

Kind of shocked me that Musquin and CP both hadn't even received a call. But did CP say about a month ago that he "wouldn't " ride for team France even if they asked him to? He also mentioned that he wanted to finish his career here in the USA. Doesn't want to go back to the GP's.

I wouldn't put it by France winning with their chosen team (or at least a podium) - in which case Grant may be the one that ends up looking a little bit silly. They're not as strong as the USA but still, it isn't a crappy line-up by any means, especially if Paulin can regain his early season form following his comeback from injury. Frossard is also perfectly capable of holeshotting a moto and leaving everyone for dust.

OK, in the benefit of hindsight Marvin probably should be on the MX2 spot, particularly in light of his recent performances. But it's also true that he hasn't performed that well at an MXDN since 2009 (though to be fair, 2010 wasn't his fault) even when he's had a good season. Dylan is still a fast rider and recently familiar with the track.

In 2009 and 2011 they were in contention (possible even leading the points?) leading into the last race and both years they suffered incredibly bad luck.

They probably would have won in 2009 but first race winner Paulin was taken out in the third corner and DNFd and they might have won in 2011 if a highly motivated Pourcels tyre hadn't slipped off the rim just after he'd passed Dungey for 2nd place. Pourcel was a last minute replacement for Frossard who had finished 2nd in the GPs that year.

I also seem to remember France suffering terrible luck in Donington 2008 I think it was, with Aubin getting a flat. I may be getting mixed up though. Luck certainly hasn't been on their side with this race.

It was Anthony Boissiere.... but yea, 2008, 2009 and 2011 they had really good chances to win

Tixier beat ferrandis in 10 of the last 11 GPs... I just cant find a valid reason to leave him out.
You can argue Musquin was not fit and Pourcel didnt want and all, but Ferrandis is the 3rd highest rider in the standings.
Not saying he's bad, theyre pretty equal and he could beat Tixier anyday if he doesnt have one of his bad motos (he has many) but still... This will be even less understandable for me if Tixier ends up with the title but without an mxon ride.

you used a video from last year to make your point??

there are plenty of reasons not to have picked Dylan Ferrandis, but showing a video from an event when he went 2-3 for 2nd overall behind Jeffrey Herlings is probably not a good example

Dylan Ferrandis beat Jeffrey Herlings straight up in the first moto of the year, I watch the GP's. I was just using that video as a joke because he looks terrible in that clip, I know he's fast as hell. A better pick than Musquin? I wouldn't go that far.

It's so funny that this happened before the majority of us were even born, yet we still make fun of France for it LaughingLaughing that's a good joke.

like i said, plenty of reasons not to have picked Ferrandis.... i didn't think they should either, but then i wouldn't have picked Musquin either before this weekend and now this weekend has happened, I'd pick Tixier

Originally I'd have gone with Febvre but that's how quickly things change in motocross

After seeing the second moto in Loket, I understand why they have picked Ferrandis.

I think that Marvin would destroy Jordi Tixier anywhere in the world. I don't find Tixier very impressive when you factor in the team he is on.

you don't think Marvin could have done that? Hell Pourcel would have won there too.

you mean Tixier's Factory KTM team is making him good, where as Marvin Musquin's Factory KTM team isn't making him good?

i'm not going to make bold statements about who's going to destroy who, when i know that the likelihood of it ever happening are slim to none.... but I see them both about the same level.... about the same level as Pourcel, Febvre and...... Ferrandis
