This thing just came up on a local trading forum.
I assume that rear suspension doesn't work well for pedaling since you don't see this setup on modern bikes.
So basically a $3k artwork to display in your house!

I'm confused. You see rear shocks on a bunch of modern bikes. I like this bike though

That's a downhill bike, pretty much motocross without the engine; Used for stuff like this

Yes, you do see rear shocks on a lot of bikes now. But seems to me that it is still the wild wild west with a lot of different configurations. See this link for example: You get 4-bar, you get single pivor, you get DW-link...

I think that it is a lot harder to come up with a bicycle suspension because you don't want to sacrifice pedaling efficiency.
You can't have a bike bobbing up and down as you pedal.
That's probably why you don't see the design above anymore. This is from 98 and they probably figured out it doesn't work very well for climbing (just my guess)

Are you that out of touch with DH mountain biking????

You have zero consideration for "bobbing" in DH.... Only Lycra wearing XC clowns are worried about that kind of non sense!!!

You point that thing down hill, hang off the back and hold on.... That's it!!!!!

Not on my list of hobbies. But if that is all a DH bike does, then why even bother with pedals (and gear shifter?)
