Where to race for 2010?
Give your ideas Positives & Negatives
This is what I have come up with:
Gold Cup & Winter Am
+ Tons of Talent
+ Big gates
+ 5 different tracks
- 6 weeks straight
Dade City Series
+ Gives back the most to the riders (best banquet, possibly in the country)
+ Decent size gates
+ Good Talent in almost all classes
- Randy Yoho (Owner that treats everybody with disrespect)
- 21 week series Feb - Nov (Very long but could deal with)
Florida Series
+ Different tracks
- Talent seems to have moved on
- Banquets are obsolete, this series is potentially great but seems to be run very poorly over the last couple of years.

As far as racing in Florida, we mostly do off-road with FTR, when we race MX it's right here in the local area at Southern Raceway in Bainbridge Ga, or at Chase's Fastrack in Cairo, Ga.
If we were to do a motocross series, the Winter Ams would be it. Great tracks, other than Dade shittyy and great competition!!
I've been thrown out of Dade City a few times haha. Rules were made to be broken
The Shop
People who haven't ever been there on a points night have no idea but 400 to 500 riders at a local po dunk fairgrounds is crazy. His 30 years of being in this business he's got lots of good sponsors and a great race program.
We don't follow the race series because I don't want my kid to be one dimensional. But somebody like Renner he can make some decent money there and it's one of the best money tracks around.
I've had way more nice conversations with Randy but also have had a couple heated ones. Put yourself in his shoes, there's a hell of a lot of people up his ass all the time and I bet it can get on your nerves.
Mind your manners, show courtesy, follow the rules and don't expect (or demand) any special treatment, no matter who you are, you'll have a good time.
Randy runs a tight ship, people don't fuck around there. No bullshit pit riding/racing or general asshole-ness.
Piss Randy off, and expect a strong tongue lashing and/or expect to be shown the gate.
The only people who seem to have a problem with Randy are noobs or out of state folks who think that DC is like other tracks where anything goes....WRONG
Basic rules of DC:
STFU
Be at riders meeting
STFU
Don't pit ride/race
STFU
Be at the gate/staging on time for your race
STFU
If you have a protest, have your story straight and be ready to prove it
or STFU
Other than that, have fun in a safe atmosphere
I agree, I hear more bad than good about him. I cannot argue that the track brings in the numbers & talent at the same time. His business side must be good and I understand you defending him but honestly, how often have you heard people call him a prick or something along those lines. I have seen someone sit on the fence that was along the track and watched Randy approach them in a defensive manner without any resistance. I guess he can remain a bully inside his fence but would love to see him act that way outside of his fenced area. I am sure MANY agree.
My mistake, and he reminded me of it several times. Even though I was wrong, he was not my favorite person, but it was a fair call on his part.
No problem, it's all in good fun!! I did have to save the link to that pic, I WILL use it in the future!!
When people are pissed, they express it
That is why you hear more negative than positive, and that's normal in everyday life
You'll always hear 10x the number of unhappy patrons to happy ones. Why? Because everyone expects the service to be their way or what they're used to, so they don't complain.
When it isn't the way they want it is when people complain.
People are used to the rules or chaos of whatever their local track is, and when they show up elsewhere and don't get to act the same way, well then that's that promoter's fault, huh?
Randy plays no favorites and has kicked out and even banned from the facility for a time, his own son.
If you want chaos and a loosely run program, DC isn't the place for you
If you want a track run like clock work and no chaos and bullshit, DC is for you
It really is that simple
People who use common sense, pay attention, follow rules and expect no special favors get along quite well at DC....and amazingly, even with all the other tracks around, DC gets big crowds and fast racers....and BTW, it's in the middle of BFE
Pit Row
Right?
The kid's doing a good job with Florida MX as well as National stuff
Has a decent interview with Zack Freeberg and a few others on it
Have they posted a schedule?
I believe they are ran by the guy that runs The Florida Series only they have banquets and give back to the riders because others are involved with him.
He is very appreciative of all the people that race his Saturday night series. You will get over it. I did. It's his rules.
