You would think they made a special surgical slide hammer for that?! That made me a bit queasy and the rod in my femur hurt.

Me neither. haha!

When I had the screws removed from my femur at the knee, the fawking surgeon stripped one of the heads of the screws and had to literally go drive to get an EZ-Out hammer my knee with it (added a few weeks to my recovery time). I imagine it looked a bit barbaric like I imagine the video above is, but I really don't want to watch either. Sick

I had 8 screws left in my ankle a bit over a year ago. I went in to have them taken out.......3 or 4 of them broke off and are now a permanent part of me!
I wish I had the video. I love this stuff.

ok I have a relevant story in regards to this... I have a rod in my humerus that got put in in 2001, I went in about a year and half later to get it removed by the same surgeon. As soon as I wake up from surgery the conversation went something like this...

Nurse "you're the one with the rod in your arm, uh..."
me "yaaaaaa ummmaaarhghammmmpffffff how did it go? ummmmpfffarrhgdsfkj" (insert more drugged up noises)
Nurse "well I'm not 100% sure, but I heard they weren't able to get it out"
me "WHAT??? get the f'ing doctor here!"
doctor comes in "yeah, I was POUNDING on that thing, but it wouldn't come out sorry"

The doctor was a kind of scrawny old guy, so the following year I tried the same surgery with another surgeon, big guy this time. Well... same unsuccessful results, he said if he had tried any harder he could have cracked my arm. Apparently titanium has the tendency to fuse with bone.

A few years later I broke my tibia in half and had it rodded too, but after all I went through that I said screw it, this one's staying in

Gotta say there is money to be made in Medical tools if thats how they got mine out in 98'....No wonder it hurt more getting it out than what it did when it initially broke...GAWD!

Have the rod hanging in my garage to this day.Laughing

The ones not watching pay money to go see blood and guts and brains at the theater, with a Xtra large drink and popcorn.

You should send that video to hollyweird for a movie........CHA CHING.

They can dub in alot of screaming and you biting a bloody rag, and taking shots of whisky as they use it as antiseptic right out of the bottle.

Docs have to take a couple swigs too.

That was sweet! Mine has been in for 13 years and I'm so scared about breaking my femur again with that in there.

It also feels like my femur wants to flex but the rod won't let it. Anybody else have that sensation? It hurts!

Call me a wuss, I was screaming the whole time watching this. I have had numerous plates, screws and pins installed and removed. Once I was awake when they removed screws from my fibula. Watching it on someone else is much harder for me!

The rod that's in my femur for my hip replacement goes all the way down to my knee and breaking that femur is my worst fear while riding. As for the hammering the shit out of that thing......my femur split all the way down when they put the rod in my leg.
