Built in 1951, it was opened as a way to encourage street racers to compete safely, and was built through the combined efforts of the Pomona Valley Timing Association, Pomona Police Chief Ralph Parker and the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds. In 1992, Auto Club Raceway entered the final phases of a $4.5-million modernization project, which included the installation of permanent grandstand seats that can accommodate up to 40,000 fans.

Langston? That's cool and all (as I liked Langston while he was racing) but I can't believe they don't have more of the top riders that are currently riding.

We sure are missing out on some top riders: Roczen, Tomac, Canard, Barcia, and Millsaps. Unless they are trying to win the 250 class!

What is the prize for winning Straight Rhythm? That might tell you why some of the top guys aren't competing, especially the ones that aren't RB riders. Roczen is RB but I don't believe the others are.

I think it's $100,000. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

EDIT: The MEC pays the same, provided the winner doesn't sweep all 3 motos for a million.

I hope Langston is not too hung over! Bummed Rusk and Schmidt didn't get invited.

Who's going to contend for the win? Really only Dungey, Stewart, Wilson? Maybe Pastrana, but I'd say Stewart has to be the front runner for this.

I always thought the winner at the MEC (or U.S. Open) took home $100K. That doesn't count the rest of the purse.

So are you saying the total purse for the RBSR is $100,000? I know the MEC winner gets $100,000 and was just trying to say winner payouts for both events were on par with each other(except for the million dollar MEC sweep). MEC has a total purse of $250K, not sure what RBSR is, whether it's $100K to win or $100K total purse. I thought it was $100K to win.

Exactly... at least someone gets the underlying tone of the event.

Every top athlete was invited, after that its up them and or their teams to race.

I've been looking for the video that popped up about a week ago with Roczen and Dungey riding the current track . I don't think it has any music, just their engines. Where was that posted?

Chancability that Langston makes it to the line? The Fairplex has hundreds of beer stands....

Chancability that Stewart's nurse tries to get a hard card? It's a long, hard track

You're putting Wilson on the same level as JS7 for this event? This is right up James' alley. I'd have Wilson as a top 7 maybe.

I don't see how the 2 correlate. I'm saying that he's fat and he's lucky if he gets to the end of the course. What does it matter if it's for fun or not?
