What is the key to keeping raw "factory"pipes from turning brown and rusty? I've read scotch brute and WD-40. But does storage matter too? Such as keeping your bike in an air conditioned garage vs an outdoor shed? Would love to have a raw pipe on my next bike but don't know if it's worth it.

WD-40 before you put it away.

Yes, after washing I hit mine with WD40 and green scotch bright or steel wool and wipe it down after.

I have NEVER had an issue with it rusting EVER.

Yeah, need to post a pic of my rusty crusty pro circuit factory pipe. Everyone that sees it just talks shit on it. I love it though. have a shiny new fmf platinum pipe. Too bad the bottom mount needs to be moved an inch. Also the power curve on that pipe blows.

I always cleaned mine with Naval Jelly (off the bike). Once it is spotless from that, WD40 coats.

Clean all the nasty stuck on dirt off the pipe (I use shout and even a pressure washer sometimes because I don't care) then rub the pipe out with some wd40 on a rag. Once a year (usually in the winter) I take a rotary sandy wheel to it.

Are you taint 2-stroke or 4-stroke? I know back in the day CLR made a raw 2-stroke pipe look new again.

There is no "trick" to it. green scotch-brite, and WD40. You'll rub the cool welding coloration off, so spend 19 bucks on a map gas torch (propane isnt hot enough) at Lowe's and re-do the weld marks after you scrub it down. That's the only real way to make them look new.

Toilet bowl cleaner is highly acidic, and acidic cleaners are for people who hate dirtbikes.
