This KX style wasn't introduced until 2003.
The factory team in Europe had these bikes in '02. That same team used the KX450F in 2005 - a year before they were released.

Another example would be the factory Suzuki team using the new 2001 model RM's in 2000. They also used the RMZ450 a year before it was released. I think the Radson Honda team rode the 2000 Honda's in '99 as well.

What was with the conventional fork craze with the GP bikes in the mid-90's?

The L&M HRC Honda from Stefan Everts pictured above was said to be worth around $520.000 (400.000 euro) back in 96-97-98.

There was this whole "more flex" is better thing that was going on back then. Outdoors it did seem to be ok, but the craze fizzled out.

EFI, e start 2 smokers will rule soon. The new ones are so much better than boat anchors.

I think so, I really remember liking them, and the rhino skins. They looked really good on the bikes, to bad they never caught on.

Talon Volland

Those Kawi's were so bad ass. I remember I wanted one so bad.

Saw Tallon this past weekend out at Hangtown. Man time flies.

Ugly? Perhaps... but think about the sponsorship value. Would it be easier to get more mainstream sponsors with the ability to advertise on a larger platform?

Now that looks sweet, definitely like the red rear fender.

You bring up a good point. 2-stroke dirt bike tech is really stuck in the early 2000's.

Imagine the possibilities with some manufacturer development in DFI, etc.

I like the 250s, but the 125s seem to have a little "workness":
George Holland's CR125

Donny Schmit's RM125

Guy Cooper's RM125

Steve Lamson's CR125
