I sold one of these engines for next to nothing. Thought I made serious money back when I sold it.Blush

I need to track one of these bikes down here locally. I do believe there is one still in the crate.

Those ccm's are flat out stunning. That Duc is pretty cool. My old man has one(scrambler) blown apart in a couple different boxes... I tried to buy it when I was working for Ducati. No dice. If I remember right the only reason he took it apart was to repair the bevel gears.

You mean there were 4 strokes before the late 90's?!
That CCM looks so nice!

Yep until 2 strokes dethroned them with no displacement rules.

Not mine but I have my first bike just like it sitting in boxes waiting for time to restore
In my opinion the most important 4 stroke dirt bike of all time.

Doper down the street had a candy red one. I remember it well! He was pulling me and my brother down the street in a red wagon and took us straight through a huge pothole in the road. The ensuing crash took a rather nasty looking chunk out of my knee cap. Like they say, it's all fun until someone starts bleeding.Laughing

I think you mean because OF displacement rules.

On an equal cc footing, 2-strokes absolutely annihilated thumpers.

This is gonna be a dumb question. I had a VOR for a short time. It sure looked a lot like a Vertemati. Are they related in any way?

Not even slightly dumb.

The Vertemati brothers built and developed the Vertemati bike over 4 or 5 years, in GP's and started to sell the bikes in1998, but the funding behind it wasnt good, and the business was taken over by VOR..

The OP's link tells the official story.

^^^C-Rock and PhilG,

Thanks for the replies with the link and info. Interesting stuff. I have to admit the VOR was very unusual, in many ways, but I like different sometimes!
