Steve Matthes needs access to the pits to get his own weekly video.

Steve Matthes/Pulp Mx Podcast are wildly popular because (among others):

1. He is intelligent and it shows with his consistent hot takes/creative questions. He is also the common man
2. His appeal includes but extends past the 16-27 demo, socal/bro scene demo.
3. He is refreshingly honest but FAIR. Motocross media for at least 15 years+ has a problem with fear of asking real questions. Its a problem that exists because in motocross, the media are friends with the riders. That is fine but the media need to do their jobs and can't get soft. Professional athletes get asked difficult questions. That is life. Steve is friends with them but takes tough but FAIR positions.

All us media members have full-time access to the pits and we can all shoot video in the pits...

I personally like the Dirt Shark vids.. shows some riders in their natural state and not just standing their answering typical media questions. Also shows us the pit party, witch we don't get in Canada

Couldn't care less for the girls tho

On the pulp show Steve talked about what he would do with Dirt Shark level access to record videos. Being able to record the race from the stadium floor, etc...

EDIT: apparently I should read the other replies first, oops.

Lol, shots fired!

Steve doesnt like the mud in the pits so it wont be a problem at the Nats. He probably wont go to half of the ones in the middle of Summer!

I'm going to specifically wet the Kawi pits so he really has to work to fill his cargo shorts with snacks.

A supercross race filmed from the floor looking up at the bikes in the air? No thanks. I prefer the moon cam they currently use so that I can't tell if they are on the ground or not. This is much more impressive for sure.

I figured it was sarcasm to an extent, basically making a joke about how DS gets everything handed to him because his position with Monster.

I can't believe nobody has put Steve on TV, he is very entertaining. Be sure and have him on a delay, never know what he will say which is what makes him great.

This may be slightly off-topic but the title of the thread reminded me of something Matthes said in one of the pods. He was talking with either Keefer or JT about salary. Whoever it was made the comment to steve that he should disclose how much he makes because he is so open about it with the riders. He would not put an exact number on it but when (Keefer/JT) asked if it was above $100k Steve replied: "I am a grown adult I would hope I make over $100k". This brings me back to the idea of Steve representing the "common man" which may not be the case. The median HOUSEHOLD income in the US is ~$51k, per capita being ~$28k. I wish I could remember the pod.
