The ad states Jeff himself is having these sold. I wonder why Wardy would sell these?

I would love to have that 88 though. If I had the $$$ and I got it, I honestly think I'd have to ride it!

If this bikes are still here in the U.S., why would you have someone located over 5,000 miles away conduct the sale?

I'm thinking that vintage racing is MASSIVE in Europe, and there may be more prospects with $$$ over there.
I'd buy the 125 if I had the cash.

Believe the seller or broker, Rob Walters, is a long time poster, one time factory mechanic, goggle rep, and also the guy who built some of the bikes for the vet MXdN team, so he's connected to a it of folks in the vintage world internationally as far as that goes. Unless someone's got dirt I am not aware of, DocWob got some respect am credibility with the folks in the vintage world who are in a position to want and be able to buy these bikes.

If RV2 or Weimer wanted to elevate to LEGENDARY status... buy all these bikes.. store'em till x-mas, then have them delivered back to Jeff on x-mas morning....

having to sell these bikes is like someone selling their superbowl ring or olympic medal... it just ain't right...

FTE got it. The bikes are at Troy Lee where they have been on display for years. Why is Jeff selling? Who knows.....maybe he is just "over it" . Doc Wobs built all those trick KX500's for the US team to ride at the Farleigh Castle Vets MXDN last year which Jeff Ward attended and raced.

I gotta say, it's interesting what brands appeal to a person, have to admit the kawis never lit me up, at least back in the day Not saying those aren't super cool bikes, appreciate them all these days.

Seeing these bikes for sale makes me nauseous. Knowing the history of these bikes and having watched him win on these bikes, man I hate seeing this. I hope they find a good home.

I'm with you, I think all Kawasakis up to at least 2000 are butt ugly, especially anything from the late 70's-80's.

I appreciate these bikes massively for what they are, like you, but they look like Harley's more than dirtbikes, to mine eyes.

I need to win the lottery and buy that 125. My favorite bike I owned was my 84 KX125. Oh man that thing ripped. I can only imagine how much better Jeff's was.

I've told this story before, but those triple clamps were crap. Looked cool but I bent and twisted several sets of those in quite simple crashes. Stock were stronger.

Those make me nervous just looking at them, but I'd take that '85 250 in a heartbeat if I had the money!

The 84 SR125 is a pure sex machine. That's the one I would take out of the four. Even the stock 84 KX125's were amazing looking bikes. But as trick as the SR125 is, the beast in the cage is the ultimate in collectible works bikes. She's coming to America.....Smile Those with a keen eye for the vintage jewels will spy a true works open class Kawasaki in the background. Lackey's 80 model? Goes well with Lackey's 78 RC!

jesus man, we must be long lost brothers.........I always thought my 1982 yz 125 was the greatest thing since sliced bread, and it was until my buddy got a 1984 kx 125.That KX was way ahead of that yz. Man that bike was awesome, i still get butterflies thinking about that bike. I was dead broke and still found a way to get one of those.........what a machine, i still remeber that bike as one of the hardest running 125s i've ever owned, handled great, hell they even sounded tuff . Thats the bike that got me to the expert class.....with a PSI cone pipe and porting there was no other bike that would outrun it at the time . Had to weld the footpegs back on the frame a few times, along with welding on that frame all the time. It was no honda, but i can garantee that a honda was no kawi either.....Great bike, i'm actually considering trying to buy that SR if only just to ride the thing, can you imagine how hard that bitch must pull when its on the pipe, i've got goosebumps just thinking about it........I wish i had all the time i wasted dreaming of that factory built machine back...

That is a steal for such an exclusive group of MX history factory bikes.

The 84 and 85 true "works" bikes can never be duplicated, I am sure they will find a good home. I wish that home was my garage, but the checkbook does not agree (and I did ask, but it just laughed...).

Whoa!!.......Some of us do think a like. After my very first race bike ( 1982 RM125 )......my favorite bike ever was bought right after......my DMC 1985 KX125! God I loved that bike. Felt like a factory rider every time I got on that thing. So many good memories.

HI.
~Jeff asked me to help to sell his bikes when we worked together at Farleigh this last year,we agreed that a good percentage of the potential buyers would be worldwide for such machines (for example the KX500 we built for Ryno sold to South Africa and the Lechein bikes sold to Holland).
His reasons for selling them are his business alone.
As i am somewhat experienced in shipping bikes i offered to help sell the bikes for Jeff and i can arrange the shipping and international money transfers and tax liability's in whatever country such a deal incurs .
Obviously jeff would have to agree any deals and have the cleared funds in his account before the bikes leave TLD.
I bought the KX500SR 1990 for my personal collection,(that's number 16 and counting).
In my experience the riders involved in selling a works bike don't see them as a magical mystery machine like the rest of us,its simply a tool that allowed them to perform-to do their job if you like as they put their neck on the line and ultimately its the riders skill and determination that won a championship.
Its no different to me showing off 12mm wrench and saying that was responsible for the rebuild of a KX500,its simply a tool to get the job done at the end of the day.
Even with my network of connections i felt it best to put a price on them and advertise them on ebay-not on an auction but a classified ad-post the details on some of the worldwide forums and see what happens,we have a couple of offers ive already submitted to jeff.
The bikes belong in a museum but in the end it'll be private collectors who will own them, and will cherish them for what they are.
-plus its a better investment than simply having the cash in the bank-at least these will put a smile on your face!
here's a pic of wardy with his (actually mine now) 1990 bike.
Cheers,rob walters
