Anybody compare the AT81 to the MX32 Dunlop front tire ? Like a softer tire compound and the AT81 seems more mid-hard pack tire to me.

The AT81 is not a MX tire. It was designed for offroad riding. So there is no comparison.

MX is off-road, it's not done on pavement. I've used both on a MX track on the advice of Clark Stiles (Dunlop test rider). I like the MX32, now called 3S, better on prepped tracks, but on rocky hard tracks you get less rollover with the 81. The 81 lasts longer with less knob tearing also. It depends on your tracks you ride.

Just mounted up the 81 front and rear in my 250sx. Was planning on riding today except the wind is blowing 40mph here. I've ran the 32 and they are great tires. Curious to see how these 81 work. But then again I'm riding off road.

Yes.

Have you considered the Starcross 5?

Have to agree with iceman!
The starcross 5 is a great tire! Had them on before I decided to try the dunlops again. Now I wish I would have got the starcross 5 just because of how easy they were to mount!
I now remember why I stopped running the Dunlop's in the first place. Complete pain to mount the rears! Only got them because I have heard they are like the 756 used to be.

The 81 is a good tire and holds up well and is a pretty good 'all around' tire. But once I tried a set of medium Starcross 5's I'll never go back. The edge grip on the rear is amazing in comparison plus just overall grip and life is even better. Not to mention they are 10x easier to mount which is icing on the cake.

The 81 front is an "OK" tire. The rear 81 is awesome and is all I will run. I didnt believe the hype until I ran an MX3S front and it hooks better EVERYWHERE (hard, int, soft). Yeah the knobs will tear faster but when a tire hooks....thats the result. I have never had a tire that actually pulled me into a rut until I ran the Mx3s front......its thats good.

I'm one that likes to run the soft compound tire on all tracks also. I'm sure the 81 is a good tire for offroad but will be getting the 3s this week. Thanks for the feedback guys.
