..hold the career record for number of main event positions given up? We all know he is a great starter, but Jesus he throws the anchor once the top 3-4 guys get by him. It happens every week and James eventually lapped him tonight.
I like Mike but there has never been another rider that has had this pattern.

I see the glass half full with Mike.
He's the best starter the sport has ever seen.

I don't think anyone is keeping data on positions lost. They do keep lap charts though. Someone with more time and interest could probably do some work to figure it out from that data.
His sponsor is probably very satisfied. I would think as a racer you have 2 goals,
to finish as best as possible (win), and get exposure for your sponsors. Looks like he is
excelling in at least one goal.

There is NOOO reason a rider of his caliber that has been doing this as long as him should be lapped last night after getting the lead.
It honestly looks like a confidence thing.
Pit Row
Bottom line, Alessi used to rank up there with Villopoto and the best and he has had plenty of time to be up front just like the rest of the guys. He has the talent, he's not injured right now. He is doing something wrong. He should be battling for wins a rider of his caliber.
That's why I made the comment that I made (it's what Grieby would call be an argumentative prick). It's a bit silly to be calling Alessi out on his fades when none of you could even qualify for practice at these races.
The way he was riding earlier in the season, I thought this might be MA's year to bust the top-5...but now I can see its same old same old. If there's anybody who should push for an outdoor-only contract next year...it would be Mike Alessi!
