Millsaps
Shorty
Hill
Tedesco (already demoted)
Alessi (MX only do or die)
I don't dislike these riders just think it is last chance time or be replaced by an up and comer.

2005 (250s) - 3rd in West SX, 2nd in MX
2006 (250s) - 2nd in West SX, 4th in MX
2007 (450s) - 16th (injured) in SX, 3rd in MX
2008 (450s) - 3rd in SX, 3rd in MX
2009 (450s) - 3rd in SX, 2nd in MX
If I ran a team, I'd love to have him - who else can claim eight top 3's in the last 5 years? Nobody. Nobody else even has 7, look it up.
Hepler...hope he makes it, but with all the concussions/injuries?
Hansen...there's always X-games
Evans...if he tries SX again?
Probably a lot more??????
Milsaps will do what he must. Great kid.
Hill is performance based and should do well. Great kid.
Tedesco (demoted) not even. He will surprise more than a few.
He has such a low profile, no one knows he's there. No big ads, no big exposure, no covers.
Not sure if that is by design or his representation, but when a guy with his credentials is consistently overlooked and/or forgotten, it says something.
The Shop
The original thread was about replacing these guys with an up and comer - any up and comers that you can count on to get a top 3, like Short?
I agree that he could get more exposure, but what is he supposed to do? Get in a fight? Get arrested? Ride dirty? Tattoos?
This is Factory Honda. When you have unlimited testing resources, a squad of mechanics and technicians, and all the time in the world to get it right--- I think you should be able to get your bike set up for the whoops or whatever.
That must really chap some privateers' butts to hear the Factory Honda guys say the bikes aren't quite up to snuff.
Short seems to draw the short straw for advertising.
and was also his manager?
I hate to say it but it is true. Whether it is the size or culture I don't know, but he needs to win a few races to increase his exposure.
Pit Row
I think top 20 rides need to be at every SX and the better they ride - the more money they make. If a top rider could make 100k more for finishing in the top five every race or not make the 100k for finishing 15-20 - we might have better racing.
Maybe tangling the carrot in front of a pair of goggles is a good idea
1) Jason Lawrence
2) Jeff Alessi
3) Metcalfe
4) Hanson
5) Hepler
6) Sean Hamblin
even in 2008 when Stewart was out, Windham stepped up and won races, while Short failed to do that.
I'm a fan of Short, because everyone knows he works hard and is honest in his interviews, but if his contract ended this year, He should have been out and they should have kept IT9
Same thing with Millsaps, great rider, but won 1 race (a nice accomplishment, that every rider dreams of) but can't back it up with the consistency Short has.
Every rider that makes an SX main is nothing short of amazing, but from factory riders, you expect them to go for the win.
Not for podium or top 5.
Hasn't DM won more than once?
