Do all the new factory bikes have the shifter on the right, or just The Huskys?

That is the official channel. They are posting the races which is nice, but they're posting them 1-2 weeks after they air which isn't ideal.

I watched the main events on YouTube less than an hour after they happened.

If they don't delay race uploads, TV numbers would decrease. There has to be some incentive to catch it live on TV.

Montesa had some beautiful lines. I still love Akront deep rims!

The Montesa Grey Ghost series.

Early seventies, everybody went left side shifter.
Before that, right side shift on a bike from Europe was not uncommon.
Triumph, BSA shifted right side also.
Bultaco Astros had the shifting shaft go all the way thru the cases, you could set it up either way, which was cool
for dirttrack
Some, it messed with, but the phrase "shift left, shift right, it don't matter" kinda denoted you weren't a crybaby.

Here's a quick quiz, only an old f### like me will know.
What major brand had the throttle on the left, thru most of the 1900s?

Winner winner chicken dinner.

WW2, the Indian was preferred by more than a few soldiers, even tho there were a lot more Harley's sent over there.
The Indian, a right hand guy could still shoot a pistol while on the gas

Only other left had throttle, I know of anyway, were the Harley Police service cars/trikes.
Made for writing parking tickets easier.

Years ago I got off my Yamaha and rode a friends Bultaco. I almost killed myself and his gearbox at the first corner I came to.

I did hear that comment during the broadcast and had to do a double take. It was funny but a honest mistake.

Obviously, Emig knows which side the shifter is on. So, it actually made me shift through a few gears on my couch to check my sanity.

Nothing but respect for Fro, feel bad for him because that had to be super embarrassing for him. Must be difficult and confusing trying to call the race live from the booth.

Same Emig who referred to the 499cc KX450F a few years ago in a Kawasaki commercial, if my memory serves me well.

Hey Fitz! In a Stephen King novel they called it a Hearst shifter

I used to own a Bultaco. Right shift, 1dn-4up. I also owned a Ducati 450 RT. Left shift 1up - 4dn. And I'd occasionally ride a friends honda/yamaha. Left shift, 1dn-4up.

I rode a Bultaco a year or so ago and almost killed myself. I have no idea how my brain kept it figured out back then. Other than my brain was younger and pliable then.

As for Jeffros mix up on the broadcast. He gets a "get out of jail" card from me. Non-perfection in a nitch market broadcast about dirt bike riders is not and never will be the end of the world.

In 1973 I raced a 1958 BSA Gold Star 500 single in the open class and then got on a 1973 Suzuki TM250 and raced the 250 class. Talk about two different bikes.

Nice that you have pics of both. Think how many years ahead of the curve you were on the BSA for the 4-stroke revolution that would take over moto. Wink
