I have never been to Glen Helen but having raced Washougal and to hear that it might be in danger of being dropped from the schedule is quite confusing to say the least . I had never been there before and arrived after dark . When I woke up in the morning and crawled out of the back of my truck and looked at that hillside I could not believe that which lay before my eyes . That place is moto heaven ! The setting is magical.

Now I don't know the answers but I do have some questions . Why is it that so much financial risk and burden is seemingly placed on the race venues to conform .Do they get a guarantee of a return on the upgrade investment costs ? Probably not . And when things don't work out people just pass it off as change or progress or whatever ? Claims of "they took there ball and went home" and that venue is to be forgotten in the minds of the core fans , while the intentions of the management group are to be blindly trusted .

I don't know how many interviews or podcasts or articles there are out there that show in my opinion what the real problem might be ! All you have to do is listen to and read about who the new management people (cater to)went to for advice on how to make the outdoor series better . They went to the very riders who "took their ball and went home" from the outdoor series . If we can learn to make-do without what we KNOW TO BE core motocross tracks that have been there to make racing possible for decades , then why can't we make -do without the riders who are SX only cash-counters THAT DON'T LIKE the outdoors ? Let the "BIGS" stay home dribbling their ball and let the hungry ones have a shot at a title ! Money shouldn't buy a title or the respect that comes from earning one should it ?

You take away a source of income that the "national" hopefully provides these tracks and you are jeapordizing all the thousands and thousands who practice , race and spectate there if the place can't stay open . The sport loses anymore tracks and riding areas the sales for motocross bikes will never recover . I would imagine that a lot more bikes are sold for motocross use than supercross ! I hope this is not going in the direction of X Games type commercialism , no fans except for in TV land . There are so many dang commercials on a televised race now that you forget what you were watching after some of the "breaks in the action" .

That ENTIRE post was nothing but dribel! What does ANY sports facility have as a gaurantee for revenue? NONE!! You think the NFL or MLB pays the Yankees or the Dallas Cowboys to host NFL and MLB games at their venues?

Where GH ends, another track comes along. It's called progress and change. It is a part of life. Get over it!! GH and Washougal were given notice just as everyone else that needed changes an upgrades were given. The tracks STILL ON the schedule complied and GH did not or doesn't want to do it. I guess we will see with Washougal.

Rant and rave all you want, but it's over and done with. This is about the 15th damn thread about GH etc...... 500 threads isn't bringing it back!!!

p.s. GH has not been around for decades.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Glen Helen Raceway regretfully announces that it will not host Round two of AMA 250/450 Nationals

on May 29, 2010.

There has been long negotiations between MX Sports and Glen Helen Raceway in regards to the event. As a previous host of more than 14 AMA Nationals and three GP’s over the last 20 years, Glen Helen has proven to be a world class venue (and so do the fans who have flooded the gates in large numbers over the years).

I believe 1 decade =10 years so 2 must equal 20

Did you mean:dribble as in:

internet dribble

The burden of the stadium construction costs that the NFL and MLB hold their events in increasingly has been falling on the backs of the taxpayers ,even if there is a vote during an election and the voters say no .

If my post was a rant yours certainly OUTRANTED it ! lol

If there had been tension between GH and MXA Sports for "a while" of course they aren't going to dump $ into the facility knowing they will probably get dropped !

There is nothing for me to "get over", I have never been to Glen Helen ! Take your meds dude !

Whern they were racing GP's there, it wasn't GH. They have only been racing GH as a US National track since 1995 or 1996.

As for your "theory" on NFL and MLB stadiums being paid for by taxpayers, you are right as long as you mean the ones that ever purchase a ticket to get in to one of these Staduims. Ticket prices are what pays for the stadiums and they are high!

My point was that I am sure everyone is tired of the GH issue. There is thread after thread after thread. We didn't need another one. It is useless. It is a done deal and all the threads in the world aren't going to solve it at this point.
