Did you know that Ryan Villopoto and Jeffery Herlings have raced competitively on 450's? The result - Herlings beat Villopoto first race, Villopoto beat Helrings second race.

Wasn't Herlings on a 350?

One off event, one day, doesn't mean much...

Yes, everybody who has been on this board for awhile knows.
It's been discussed.

A lot.

14 and stuck in 2nd gear, crashed twice , ran out of gas with half a lap to go and pushed it across the line.

Herlings had a lock of RV's red hair in his sock for good luck for that race he won

Pushed it down the last downhill to hop on the bike and make the finish line jump is what you wanted to say right?

You forgot to mention that his front wheel fell out at the end of the first lap and he wheelied around the track for the rest of the race

His bike blew up, but he found a soup can next to the track and installed it for a piston, THEN wheelied around the track.

In all seriousness I don't think Paulin and Herlings get enough credit for their rides in that race. Paulin winning having spent the vast majority of the season riding a 250, and Herlings finishing second in his first ever race on a 350 at such a young age. Mightily impressive

Not enough credit? You haven't been around long enough, evidently.

What almost NEVER gets mentioned when this race comes up is that Villopoto gave his his starting position to Baggett, and started around 13th, moved through to the front, passed Roczen twice, and was on Herlings like a lion on a lamb the last lap.

On a GP track he'd never ridden before.

In the rain.

And at the same track, in the second moto, had to slow down at the finish so Dungey could catch up to him and cross the line 1-2.

Did you know that?

But most of the top GP riders were out/Herlings was only 15/Herlings was stuck in 3rd gear/yadda yadda yadda.

Not enough credit.

Yes I did know that, because I was there. Villopoto was in that position for quite a long time, it wasn't like he only caught Herlings on the last lap. All of the things you say yada yada yada to are true, apart from the fact that Herlings was 16/17

RV was 9th on lap one, 5th by lap 4, 3rd at the end

I say yadda yadda yadda because they are excuses used to diminish the fact that he won, in much the same way many GP fans are screaming their heads off about RV fans now using "excuses" about him in the GPs.

And Villopoto was not behind Herlings for "quite a long time." That is bunk.

Herlings fans troll like this but he stays down on a 250 while his top competition moves up to MX1 or to the U.S. every year? I wonder how the MX2 class results would look if Ken Roczen, Jeremy van Horebeek, Tommy Searle, Marvin Musquin, José Butron, Rui Gonçalves, Gautier Paulin, Steven Frossard, etc were lucky enough to have come into GP racing young enough to hang out in a support class for so many years?

Sure it’s legal to do but you think it would make them more humble, hell even embarrassed to bring up his name. If they truly believed he is the best rider in the world they would be pushing him to move up and face the fastest riders.

Read his intervieuws, he does not have the power to decide it on his own.... Blame the red bull/KTM folks.

An excuse is something that you make up to try and justify why something didn't go your way. Those things are not excuses, they are facts. From lap 10 onwards RV was in a battle with Roczen with Herlings just in front and with 3 laps to go he was right behind Herlings but he held him off

RV actually passed Herlings but Herlings passed him back on the same lap.
