I hope not. It is funny occasionally (not often) but not worth losing a job over. Keefer is a gun though so he will land on his feet.

Obviously I do not know but for whatever reason I think it has something to do with Keefer Testing Inc. Maybe conflict of interest?

Agreed .. sounds like there were some conflicts with Dirt Rider and his testing gigs. Leaving a job after 14 years can't be easy. Good luck to you KK120

I heard that the Forum QNA here didn't help.

I'd hate to think that was it, though.

That's terrible if true, I don't remember any of his answers being out of line, even though we were doing our best to bait him as always.

If anything, guys like Keefer add credibility to a magazine. I've always thought he did his best to objectively review products, even if he was very opinionated about his favorites. He is actually the reason I got a subscription last year.

I think they dropped him because they thought they were getting a #1 KTM test rider, and then all of a sudden he dropped to #120 or something like that. Obviously, he's no longer any good if he goes from #1 to a 3 digit guy.

I just went through the whole Q/A. He didn't seem to cross the line from what I could gather. At least nothing that would get the dude fired.

It was where he predicted Tomac would win the SX championship and ended up being wrong.

Good thing for Keefer is he has now built himself a fan base because of his good personality, he will find a job and sounds like he already has.

If they told him he needed to go because of him participating in things like vital forums and pulp then that it just terrible on their part. How could that be negative to them in any way? Hell, if anything you would think it would help keep DR relevant and possibly make people who havnt looked at a DR magazine want to look into a subscription just because of the great insight that he offers. Keefer is a class act for sure and the dirt bike community is better because he is apart of it.

Would "Keefer After Dark" really be that much of an issue to Dirt Rider? If he wants to talk about his private life and give advice to a few weirdos looking for sex advice from a Moto podcast in his off-time, why shouldn't he be able to do that?

I would bet Dirt Rider started having issues with Keefer Inc. as it could be a conflict of interest. He may also be doing a bit too much talking , like when he said the new CRF450 got second place in their shootout well before they published that issue.

I like Keefer and I'm sure him leaving Dirt Rider will be a positive thing and look forward to what he does next.

Cheers.

Keefer is way better off anyways. He has too much knowledge and credentials for Dirt Rider and will land on his feet with a better gig

I'm pretty sure they'll be talking about it more in depth on Monday's show and all of these questions will be answered, along with what he'all be doing where in the future.

From #1 to #120 is good stuff Smile

I also hadn't paid attention to Dirt Rider magazine for a long time until Keefer got on Pulpmx and I looked for his stuff in the magazine or their website. I'm a fan of the guy and will follow whatever he does in the future.

I didn't think anyone still purchased magazines. I bet it has been 10-15 years since I purchased one

I've been reading DR for I don't even know how long, probably since I was like 10 and Jimmy Lewis was the editor. Definitely seems like after Bonnier took them over it's really gone downhill, the magazine and the website. I haven't been on their site in a while because I got so damn sick of having to close out a pop-up add every single time I clicked on a new page! The magazine is so thin now that it's probably less than half the size it was back in the mid-2000s, I don't know what's going on but that can't be good. I also noticed they started running tobacco adds, not that I really care, but I remember they used to be super against running any type of add that included those products in the past.

I don't know, seems like Keefer leaving could really be the nail in the coffin, I've always enjoyed their stuff but without Keefer writing for them it's going to be missing something big time.

I got a one year subscription of DR because of Keefer.

Keefer seems like a really, really good guy. He has answered probably 9 out of 10 of my questions regarding bikes, parts, gear etc on Twitter.

I bought a dirt rider subscription this past year solely because of Keefer. Pure moto guy. I will be canceling the subscription.

Subscribed to DR since WolfTales, Karel & Faught. Even enjoyed Lewis and his 'opinions'....

BUT, if that quoted post holds any water...ill happily see that mag die. The Vital Q&A with KK is the type of thing that brings brand awareness to the DR mag.
I like Keefer and I love smart business...apparently the DR publishers dont?

They have definitely gone downhill. I go weeks at a time without getting an issue in the mail, and when my card changed and they weren't able to auto renew they threatened to send me to collections, so I had to renew. I just renewed my subscription again probably 3 months ago and have yet to receive a magazines me since then.
