I see one section in particular that is a nice sight. Stadium looks small though. Probably my perception though.

Yeah it is big enough but not as big as the Silverdome. It worked in 2008 but atleast this time there was alot better advertisement leading up to it.

How cool would it have been if they left the seat section open next to the up/down hill? I would pay top dollar for those seats! But safety first I guess. It always ruins the fun.

What does Michigan have to do with it? I don't think Michigan builds the track.

Sleeve1 - rather than snide comments about plywood, let's just hope for great racing and on a personal note that all the out of town folks get to see some of the good that is happening in the D.

I'm not trying to be snide, I'm just trying to understand the motivation for his question.

Seeing plywood isn't that uncommon, depending on the dirt, and whether there's actually plywood under the dirt, or if it (like on a few stadiums) it goes straight to concrete.

Hey GuyB, how thick is the dirt laid down on top of the ply? 1/2 foot maybe? More?

I'd guess more. I'll see if I can find out if there's a standard spec.

I got picked to be a flagger! I'm effin' excited about that! My first time flagging a supercross so besides GuyB, I have the second best seat in the house!
Think I'll put some dirt in my pocket before I go home after the races!

We've now heard from a source at GEICO Honda that Eli Tomac will not be racing this weekend--shoulder not 100%. Bummer.

So stoked for SX being back in Michigan. I guess all those tweets to Prater and Jendro paid off.. haha..

First SX in Michigan was 1976. It should have never left. This is a home for Supercross.

i was not trying to start anything in particular...was just currious if the diirt base for the track will be thicker. i'm just a guy that loves SX/MX. i wouldn't wish harm on any of my fellow human beings.

in retrospect i probably should have worded that differently.

Anyone know how they prep the stands for building a track on them? Do they put down a tarp and start bringing up buckets of dirt? If it's not too much trouble I wouldn't mind having the crowd on the floor and the track in the stands. Just for one round.Cheerful

Gibby- I just purchased a ticket for my dad and myself for the return of supercross in the motor city; the first since 2008 when Davi Millsaps won the main event. When i was looking at the track map and Dave Prater's shot on instagram, i myself wondered if we would see plywood. If you recall, you will have to dig deep- just two weekends ago at Lucas Oil stadium in Indy, WE SAW PLYWOOD SHOWING OUT OF A 180.

As Vital Moderator, "CEO", head honcho, etc etc, why on earth would you flame a member for sarcastically and jokingly ask "will we see plywood?" Seriously.? You do read the other threads, right? WinkTongueWoohoo

Do you forget that we are PAYING TICKET HOLDERS to this event?
Is this not a Forum to voice our opinions, concerns, and comments correlated with MX, SX, and all things moto?

Either way, if i see your Mr. Clean lookin like, bald head goatee wearing self tomorrow at Ford field- im gonna say whats up.
Because i love this place and im gonna ask you if you are in Feld's pocket like MXGEOFF is in youthstream's!!!Evil

Flame on, ready for the rebuttal on the snide remark.
