Without going into detail, my understanding, chest trauma
and by the way, just so I'm clear, are we blaming Obama on this or not?

7/30/2008 1:41 PM When I saw the word "Driver", I figured it was an ATV rider...MX rider right? Well who ever it was, RIP and prayers out to the family. I know I would never be able to live with myself if I killed a fellow rider or anyone. Prayers out to the other rider too.

7/30/2008 1:47 PM Holy shit!! I knew Ray quite well. Even raced against him at Glen Helen Regionals last summer. And then met up with him again at LL's. This is tragic....I'm speachless!

7/30/2008 3:17 PM Not only is if affecting the family and friends but it probably threw off all the riders who are still there to race.

7/30/2008 3:21 PM Oh man this sux to hear about this.
Sad news for all family, friends and those involved, my thoughts and prayers are with them. Not sure if this is the first death, I thought I recall one in 2005 45+ class first turn. |

7/30/2008 4:17 PM I just talked to Joe Dean, Ray's mechanic while he was there. He said Ray did not suffer from any broken bones or head injury. He took a handle bar to the chest and his lung filled up with blood befor they could figure out what was wrong with him.

Not really . Just from the races. Ray was the one that drove the black astrovan with the huge Alpinstar sticker in Red down both side, matching trailer. He often rode at thundervally.

I almost feel wrong for even asking this but I wonder if he was wearing a chest protector/roost guard? It bothers me when I see guys like Josh Grant on the line for a Pro National with he's sleeves pushed up & nothing under his jersey.
Whatever the case this is just horrible. |

Ya I just bought one today...I had to learn the hard way last sunday when I got thrown over my bars and my stomach/chest got slammed on the bar pad. I thought I was too cool to be wearing one but I figured im never too cool for safety.
