Looking at the track map for this weekend...Does anyone else think Ricky should add more corners? (sarcasm overload) This is RIDICULOUS! 17 CORNERS!? The GOAT knows how a good track flows and looks. Why does he come up with a track with SO MANY TURNS? 20ft LH turn, 30ft RH turn, 10 ft then bowl turn....this is insane. It makes for terrible racing and everyone knows it. The track is already a goat path and makes the HOLESHOT 95% of the race, yet again. The Minneapolis SX was a goat path enough with its dumb chicane.

Why do they keep making terrible tracks?

Add your thoughts guys. Thanks.

Yeeeaaaaaaaaa looks interesting for sure. I won't bash it yet until I see some racing on it. Hopefully lap times are higher and it's not 1 lined

I'm going to hold my judgement until after practice. I'm not so sure on the paper design.

Why do they keep making terrible tracks?

Just to piss you off. It appears to be working.

For the record, I'd rather see more corners, than a straight rhythm where everybody is jumping the same jumps.

My guess on why the tracks he makes are junk...he has his amateur day after the pros. So he makes a "safe" track and slows them down by putting in turns. Its the oldest trick in the book of track design. It sucks for the pros to race on.

HAHAHA I know right? Strikes a nerve when they waste a track design for amatuers that the pros are stuck racing on... I just think its ruining the racing potential of the sport when you take the actual racing away.

I'm going to be there. I'll withhold judgment until I see the riders going at it. Good to know we will have a good view of the start with our seats. Personally, I like the design I see above, but again, I shall wait until I see the races held there.

Maybe because last year he got a ton of shit because the track had six?

Maybe he's trying to slow them down so they go fewer laps in 20 min so the track doesn't break down and the concrete shows...... uhhh oh wait nope that can't be it.lol

Seriously the 360 first turn is not a good idea.

I dont see what the big deal is. This is essentially the same layout that has worked for 30 years and why it's the only SX I still watch. For some reason though they always want to say it was designed by a former racer. Remember they have limited space to work with at Daytona too.

Best Daytona tracks in my opinion: 2005, 2006 with those giant whoops with JS7 just smoking through them, 2015 with those 2 wall jumps in a row.

actually turns allow a greater change of passing oppourtunity. a long straight just means everyone goes the same speed.

and 90 degree turns are terrible for racing. most of these are 180s

but yes it is pretty tight which could still lend to some conga lines

Looks great to me. U turn then U turn makes for great passing zone.

The other corners are laid in a way to not be a one line.

Only change id make is the doglegg toward pit out, that will be one line.

The 360 start (without an over/under) is interesting. Did anyone see Baggett at San Diego? Or the, give it low, probability that two riders tangle right out of the gate? Be quick on the Red if any of the two happen.

Gonna be a lot of follow the leader bullshit through that congested tight middle stuff...

But we all know why. They're trying to keep the speeds down cause the bikes are too fucking fast for SX. So they shorten the straights and with no berms, you get no chance to get a drive or block and hold a line, you can take the inside and still jump the jumps...

So follow the fucking leader. SX racing and the industry is figuratively and literally lemmings town.

More corners means more physically demanding. Having to accelerate/brake quickly in succession over and over. Looks tough

I was thinking it looks like 2009 layout but someone beat me to it. Here's the comparisons.

Sure seems like a short loop before they go back across the start if somebody gets tangled or does a Bagget loop out off the start might be a red flag.

There shouldn't be any concrete or plywood showing this week. That's a plus.
