how much different could a race frame be from a practice frame? not understanding that comment.

I've heard that top guys like that stretch frames out, our they can get "broke in" loosing some of their rigidity. So if thats what he had been riding and used to, making suspension changes along the way to fit the with the evolving handling characteristics, he probably feels like it'd be a good idea to stick with that.

Oh gotcha, I took as he meant race bike= new fresh bike, not necessarily a modded frame. And practice bike meant, clapped bike with a frame that feels like a nice worn glove.

hmm, yea. that could make sense. i took it as they did some kind of mod to the frame.
